as a test, i plugged my ipod nano into aux and used its FM tuner function just to compare quality.

the ipod nano's FM reception (basically using only the patch cable as an antenna) is FAR superior to the head unit's FM reception.

so sad. aftermarket head units plug into the car's existing antenna, right? i wonder if the poor FM reception issue is a function of the antenna or the stock head unit.

it would be a shame to replace the head unit only to have the same terrible FM reception.

thats exactly what im worried about. i dont want to go and spend money on a new HU just to still have horrible FM reception. i know its a sports car but damn. All i want is clear reception.

I had the base stereo. When I bought it w/o tint, it sounded ok. ( Just saying that since we don't get rear speakers) Even after I got all the windows tinted, it sounded ok still. I would just take it to Nissan and have them check it out.

the car should still be under warrenty, take it in and tell 'em the FM is crap!! that way if it is the antenna they can deal with it.
