Kenwood 9960 Question

I want to install the Kenwood 9960 HU but have a question, does anyone know if the blue tooth buttons on the steering wheel still work after the install? If i push the call side of the button will the HU ask me if i want to make a call and to what number like the stock radio? Or if i hit the hang up button on the wheel will the phone hang up? I would really hate to have buttons on my steering wheel that do not work.

I do not think so, if you have a call answer button that will work if you use the metra axess or pac sterring wheel control box. But you are going to have to hit the voice button on the head unit and use the kenwood mic for voice commands.

I suppose if you were real energetic, you could find the connection from the Bluetooth button and use it to replace the button the comes with the 9960, but that would be EXTREMELY energetic. I have my button that came with the 9960 mounted just above the knee pad so that I can reach down without looking and hit it for the voice activation. (see pic). You will be blown away by the voice activation once you learn how to use it.

You'll need a Scosche NAA2B Antenna Adapter, Scosche NN04B Car Stereo Connector (harness).
For the iPod, you'll need the Kenwood KCA-iP301V cable.
As far as camera, that's really up to you. I bought the Kenwood CMOS-300, which is pretty expensive, but has a huge angle of viewing and multiple views (5) available.
Not sure about PC interface. What are you needing that for out of curiousity? I know some guys on Kenwood's forum were connecting their PCs to the USB cable (that comes with the 9960) to modify their Garmin unit (not approved by Garmin).
This can help you quite a lot: KenwoodForums.com • Index page

Would i need a pc cable to upload new cars for nav or upload updates to the system? How would you add a new spash screen? Or can all this be done by sd card or usb thumb drive? Somewhere I saw a video where they used a pc.

The updates are done via a flash card through the USB cable. To upload cars and stuff like that, you'd have to hook the PC up via the USB cable (I think. I've never actually done this, just read about it). There's a lot of info and how-to's on the Kenwood forum. There is a specific thread on the startup screen how-to and another with images that people have created for their screens.

I'll leave the speaker question to biga. I had the base system and ran new wiring, but I'm no expert on that part.

Since you have the Bose system, you'll also need either a Metra or Scosche dash kit.

Do you happen to have a picture on how you mounted your cmos300 camera, did you drill a hole in your rear bumper? I am gonna get that as well. It looks like it has a switch that needs to be installed, where did you mount yours?

I scraped the pooh out of my hand getting it in there, but it sits in such a way that you can change the license plate light with no problem.
