Anyone have the Kenwood CMOS-200 Camera?

Just wondering what the quality is like? I need to replace my cheapo Chinese Ebay camera that sporadically works (and has terrible image quality).

I just ordered one off ebay (saved $60!!!).. should be here next week and installed by that weekend. I'll let you know how it is once its installed. I was originally going to get the Pioneer ND-BC4, but it seems like its sold out everywhere!

bigaudiofanat 09-09-2010 11:43 AM

The pioneer one is similar to the old ebay one.

Awesome! Do you think you could write up a small DIY for it? I've never installed a camera before. My main issues are with the power wiring for it (and where to mount the power supply).

DeEePiDDy 09-09-2010 12:01 PM

I'm having BigAudioFanat do my install.. new headunit (Pioneer x920bt), speakers (Polk DB6501), Steering Wheel controls (Axxess ASWC) and backup camera (Kenwood CMOS-200)..

Ah cool. I'm sure Matt will be able to help me out then. Overall it doesn't sound like it will be too difficult.

Let me know how you guys like it as well.

I've got the CMOS300 if you want some pictures from it.
Same pixel count as the 200.

Product Comparison

Yeah, that'd be great! I'm sure the overall quality will be the same. I love all the fancy features of the CMOS-300, I just can't justify the price.

TreeSemdyZee 09-09-2010 05:43 PM

Here's some pics from my 300. I'm going to guess that the 200 might have a "better" picture. At least more recognizable. The 300 has a 190 degree view and I think this causes a lot of distortion. My mounting position adds to this I think.

Not bad, but is it as bright as it seems in the pictures? It seems way oversaturated.

DeEePiDDy 09-09-2010 08:21 PM

that could be just the way the camera takes pictures of an illuminated screen...

TreeSemdyZee 09-09-2010 08:50 PM

Yeah, my photographic skills suck much wind. They aren't that bright.
I was using the HDR function on my iPhone. Doesn't work well for these kinds of pics.
First shot is normal, second is HDR.
