I just had a new nav unit and subs installed today.
Just wanted to share some pics with fellow forum members. :hello: Head Unit : Clarion NX500 (Navi unit) purchased from Amazon. Subs: 2 10" JL W3 Enclosure: Zenclosures (Not 100% satisfied as it had minor damages) Amp: Rockford Fosgate Punch 500w 2ch (located snugly behind pass. seat) iPhone 4 : Connected thru CLARION CCA748 iPod Audio Control/Video Playback Interface Cable (works flawlessly, Bluetooth, Music, Videos, movies...etc) ***Update: My old JL w3s blew (literally)...New W3V3s installed. is there anyway u can post the pic of the amp? because idk wheres a good place for an amp... lol ~~ ty~
so is this below the enclosure? or right behind? idk how the enclosure looks like...
That is right under the Zenclosure, you can see the brace bar in the pic. Remove the large foam block down there and you got lots of room. I glued down some 2x2 pieces to the car body, then screwed my amp rack to that. Now I can mount anything I want to that with out drilling any holes in the car.

Some bad news... it seems that I somehow managed to rip one of the W3 sub. I guess I was bumping too loud?? :)
Now since JL doesn't make the same W3s (mine's the older version that I bought 8 years ago) anymore it appears that I have to purchase two new subs. I've read that it's not ideal to use two different type of subs in a single enclosure. It looks as tho I'll be out hundreds of dollars to buy brand new subs. I wanted to clearbra my car next but it seems the money is going elsewhere. Does anyone know of a way to avoid buying two new subs?? Anyone?? |
Buy two used ones.

I got two Alpine type R's 10" for Zenclosure, they are a great sub for that enclosure.
nice setup, but what do you think of the setup in this link?
http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/1...dl-system.html like he has the amp right above the enclosure. |
I personally prefer it to be hidden.

I am thinking of cutting in some sort of plexi window into the zenclosure to show the amps down there but only have it visible when the system is on. You could see nothing till the amp lights turned on then it would light up the whole enclosure. |
So you had drill it onto the car? What is making the amp not to fall?

so you had mount it to the car... the reason why i am asking these random info is because i dont want to drill anything on the car... so thats why i asked about mounting on the enclosure box...
No I did not have to drill anything into the car, I simply glued down a few pieces of 2x2 that I then screwed the amp rack to so no holes were necessary the only reason I moved the Bose amp to where it is now is because I needed an extra 2" for the amp I ordered.
Also if you don't have the bose system then you have none of those parts in that space, so you can just glue straight to the car without having to move any components.
yep, basically on the base there is really NOTHING there... well, other than that black foam piece...
i see, so glue was the key... like if u were to remove the amp would the glue be easy to take off? and leaves no mess?
