8 Attachment(s)
I just had a new nav unit and subs installed today.
Just wanted to share some pics with fellow forum members. :hello:

Head Unit : Clarion NX500 (Navi unit) purchased from Amazon.
Subs: 2 10" JL W3
Enclosure: Zenclosures (Not 100% satisfied as it had minor damages)
Amp: Rockford Fosgate Punch 500w 2ch (located snugly behind pass. seat)
iPhone 4 : Connected thru CLARION CCA748 iPod Audio Control/Video Playback Interface Cable (works flawlessly, Bluetooth, Music, Videos, movies...etc)

***Update: My old JL w3s blew (literally)...New W3V3s installed. Don't mean to brag but it sounds awesome. :icon17:

What sort of damage to the Zenclosure? I am waiting for mine to show up anyday now, those couriers don't give a hoot about our stuff.

Tons of room for two amps.

JayYoon 08-29-2010 08:02 PM

so is this below the enclosure? or right behind? idk how the enclosure looks like...

Juleous 08-29-2010 08:47 PM

That is right under the Zenclosure, you can see the brace bar in the pic. Remove the large foam block down there and you got lots of room. I glued down some 2x2 pieces to the car body, then screwed my amp rack to that. Now I can mount anything I want to that with out drilling any holes in the car.

Damages are minimal, but still...it's an eyesore.

Here's my amp location behind the pass. seat. The amp is attached to a wooden board located underneath the carpet.

That sucks on the damage, is the carpet torn? Looks like it needs to be wrapped again, should get some better material IMO.

FairladyZ10PG 08-29-2010 09:55 PM

Some bad news... it seems that I somehow managed to rip one of the W3 sub. I guess I was bumping too loud?? :)

Now since JL doesn't make the same W3s (mine's the older version that I bought 8 years ago) anymore it appears that I have to purchase two new subs. I've read that it's not ideal to use two different type of subs in a single enclosure.

It looks as tho I'll be out hundreds of dollars to buy brand new subs. I wanted to clearbra my car next but it seems the money is going elsewhere.

Does anyone know of a way to avoid buying two new subs?? Anyone??

Juleous 08-29-2010 10:00 PM

Buy two used ones.

Yeah. The carpet does seem a little cheap compared to my old box. I'm prob not gonna have it wrapped again. Didn't affect the performance as far as I can tell.

It would just drive me nuts to see that when I looked at it. I would request a new cover from Zenclosure but thats just me, or I would get something that matches the Z exactly likely.

Hmm. I'll contact zenclosures to see what they can do about it. More problems more money.

Juleous 08-29-2010 10:33 PM

I got two Alpine type R's 10" for Zenclosure, they are a great sub for that enclosure.

JayYoon 08-29-2010 11:46 PM

nice setup, but what do you think of the setup in this link?

http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/1...dl-system.html

like he has the amp right above the enclosure.

FairladyZ10PG 08-29-2010 11:55 PM

I personally prefer it to be hidden.

Exactly why I placed the amp under the enclosure, lots of airflow down there very cool also.

I am thinking of cutting in some sort of plexi window into the zenclosure to show the amps down there but only have it visible when the system is on. You could see nothing till the amp lights turned on then it would light up the whole enclosure.

JayYoon 08-30-2010 03:32 AM

So you had drill it onto the car? What is making the amp not to fall?

I added two small holes to secure the amp to the centre brace in the hatch. Why would the amp fail? I am not putting any additional load on the amp with the Eq-X, the amp is properly grounded through the mounting? Any reasons why it would fail? All wiring has been soldered and shrink wrapped so there would be no shorts or anything.

JayYoon 08-30-2010 01:36 PM

so you had mount it to the car... the reason why i am asking these random info is because i dont want to drill anything on the car... so thats why i asked about mounting on the enclosure box...

Juleous 08-30-2010 03:18 PM

No I did not have to drill anything into the car, I simply glued down a few pieces of 2x2 that I then screwed the amp rack to so no holes were necessary the only reason I moved the Bose amp to where it is now is because I needed an extra 2" for the amp I ordered.

Juleous 08-30-2010 03:19 PM

Also if you don't have the bose system then you have none of those parts in that space, so you can just glue straight to the car without having to move any components.

kenchan 08-30-2010 04:14 PM

yep, basically on the base there is really NOTHING there... well, other than that black foam piece...

JayYoon 08-31-2010 02:21 AM

i see, so glue was the key... like if u were to remove the amp would the glue be easy to take off? and leaves no mess?

IMO it would be easy to remove the glued down pieces, not sure about without a trace but it should be pretty straight forward.

When gluing down the wood pieces make sure to cut them so the tops sit flush with the height on the mounting bolts sticking up. The blue ones are shorter than the couple of large silver ones. I had to cut the amp rack out where my new amp was mounted so it would clear under the support brace overhead. I then mounted the amp to the 2x2 pieces glued down and then placed the cut amp rack pieces to the left and right of the amp, this is the only way I could get the HiFonics in there and still mount the Bose gear and the MTX Re-Q. It might be hard to tell but the amp rack is cut to fit on either side of the Brutus, the amp is mounted directly to the glued down pieces. Works for now till I change it up. http://www.the370z.com/members/juleo...-installed.jpg

I emailed zenclosures about the damaged cover on the box a while ago but I haven't received any response from them. Guess they're too busy to reply to my complaint. Whatever...I'm prob gonna use some black marker to fill out the damaged areas. :shakes head:

Dude, give him a chance to reply. You say you emailed a while ago...as in today? Maybe he is working and not checked his email yet. My guess is that Mike from ZEnclosure will take care of you.

kenchan 09-08-2010 03:03 PM

or go to those arty stores and get some dark gray yarn, spread the strands and glue it in the bald spots. :)

It's been over a week since I sent in the email so I think he had plenty of time to respond. Chances are he never got my email. Oh well, it's no big deal since I wasn't expecting any feedback anyways. Other than the small nicks perfectly happy with the enclosure.
