I love the stealth look - the last we need is the car getting broken into - as well as the utility of this setup.

So is it okay to put carpet over the sub like this? I was assuming we'd have to do some kind of thick air/permeable mesh...

Thanks for the writeup and photos!

Yes, I'm still waiting for Jeff to design the perfect enclosure that will fit inside the spare tire itself! :bowrofl:

There is someone on here who did make such an enclosure. It only had .33cu ft of air space which made it only suitable for an 8" sub.

I thinks its a huge compromise between an 8" and 13" sub. 8's dont move that much air and power handling is very limited. Granted a good JL 8" sub will be a huge improvement over the factory sub.

I am with ya on the compromise, I just don't want to be without my spare, I have to go out of town on business occasionally. Zenclosures is going to design one, I believe, that fits in the the spare itself. With the right 8" it should be a lot better than the Bose for sure.

The shop that did the work is Radioactive here where I live. The # is 931-455-6491. They can give you better details on what they did. Also I read about you all wanting to know how it sounds with the carpet over it. It may be muffeled a little but I can pull the carpet off and turn it on and you can't tell a difference. Beleive me the bass is more than enough to make it through some thin carpet.

That looks fantastic. I have an old W3v1 in my tC and it really doesn't look like it'd fit in a potential Z. 2 grand seems a bit much for me though, but I could probably cut some good costs using my existing 250w JL amp. I really like how clean it is and how it doesn't really affect the trunk at all.

Are you talking about Radioactive in Tullahoma? If so I know Chad and the crew there very well!

Hey, I'm interested in that option. I was just in an audio shop and listened to several subs and was very impressed with the sound of the 8" Polk MM651. Who is making the enclosure for an 8" sub over the spare?
Thx

Supposedly Zenclosures is looking into it. I would like to see one with options for an 8 or a 10.

Thx John, I just found the other posting that mentioned them.
In case someone else comes on here and is also interested, here is a link to the web site: Custom Sub Enclosure | Affordable Sub Box
... and here is the blog that mentioned the deal: http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/3...ures-370z.html
I hope that helps someone in the future, Dennis

Thanks. I am waiting as well for them, or someone else to come out with an enclosure for the spare tire. It's probably just a matter of time.

John
