Look on amazon as well.

It is not about how loud it is it is about tuning your amp so it will not clip or distort the signal so it will not damage your speakers.

How about these polk speakers?, will these make things sound better?

Polk Audio db6501 6-1/2" component speaker system at Crutchfield.com

I'm going with Infinity Kappa 6.5" components. My buddy has those with just 40watts RMSx2 and sounds amazing to say the least.

Kicker makes a good bang for the buck for amps.

I just ordered the Polk db6501's myself.
Gonna have them running off a Rockford Fosgate Punch P400-2 amp.
I'm really interested to see how much better it will sound.

Hey man, have you had your system installed yet?

These are the same speakers I just had installed, they sound great and they actually fit without spacers.

Check out my install here:

That's BigAudioFanat (Matt) in the pictures doing the install for me.

You have those polks going to an amp or just the headunit? I have a nismo as well. Looking to just find a good set of components that do not need an amp.

I'm running my Polks off an Alpine KTP-445 amp, as I have an Alpine head unit.

Small & cheap and actually packs some power, over the head unit.

Find it at SonicElectronix:

Found a set of polk DB's on Craigslist for 75 bucks. Drove over to take a look at them and they look great. Gonna install them this weekend. Not sure how I am gonna hook them up to the stock head unit offhand. But I will work that out.

bigaudiofanat 08-12-2010 10:20 AM

If you are going to run them off the stock head unit just wire them to the stock wires in the doors. But I would recommend running the speakers on at least a new head unit as the stock is only putting out 8 watts as aposed to the new head units that put out 22 watts and trooper is pushing 55 watts.

Yeah, I clearly forgot I did not have aftermarket watts on my headunit.

On the rear speaker topic, has anyone run rear speakers and crossed them over to be just mid bass? That would fill nice if you were using a smaller sub and not ruin the sound stage right?

bigaudiofanat 08-13-2010 08:23 PM

You really would not get much mid bass from them and yes it still would ruin your sound stage.

Hi everyone!

Just picked up my new 2010 coupe w/sport package last night. No touring package so I have only the basic audio package and am looking for affordable improvements, probably just a speaker upgrade and some sort of iphone/ipod interface.
To my ear the factory system is short of bass, boomy in the mid bass and lacks brilliance in the mid and high ranges.
In checking out this thread it would seem that the polk db6501 speakers are popular. Are they a good choice? Saw some photos of the door without the trim, would 6x9's be a better choice?
My factory system has no rear speakers yet seems to have a functional fader, does it actually have an amplified output for rear speakers or is it a pre amp in need of an accessory amplifier?
Is the only way to connect an ipod/phone via the faceplate mounted aux jack? I'm not concerned about phone functions just audio.

Check out this thread and talk to "Bigaudiofanat" (Matt), he just did my audio install, including the Polk db6501.
