Aftermarket Deck with Bose speakers

I am sure this is answered in here somewhere but I can nt find it ...

I am thinking of putting in a new head unit, wondering if I would have sound issues with the current Bose speakers.

Would someone with an aftermarket deck mind tell me how the Bose sound? Were there any sound issues you noticed after installing your new deck, any addtional parts or steps needed?

Would also love some recomindations on decks (looking for DVD/NAV/IPOD)

Thanks all! :tiphat:

You re not going to hear any difference with just a new head unit. the bose speakers have to be ran off the bose amp because of there ohms ratings. If you try to run them off a head unit you will fry the head units amp.

Your best bet is to remove all the bose stuff and start fresh.

Is there a way to dodge that? As in i want a double din touch/nav head unit but like the sound of the rest of the system. Is there a way to do that? or is the solution really more expensive than the cost of a new system? :((

You can get a head unit and the bose adapter harness which has rca's and that will keep your bose amps and speakers. Other than that no.

My installer put in the Kenwood HU with my otherwise Bose system using a PAC line out converter. They used the wired harness though, not the RCA jacks. While the fidelity of the system may not have changed, the sound has improved due to better EQ control. I can get a lot more bass from the system now...really has filled out the overall sound better.

spearfish, do you know or have means to find what adapter did the installer use..?? Or which parts specifically if more than just the adapter..??

This is what I've been wanting to do since the very beginning.. I don't want to replace the whole system, just the headunit...

Thanks in advance..

This is the one crutchfield.com keeps recommending, to go for the Bose system...

where did the place the pac?

Between the wiring harnesses and that went behind the head unit. You wire ALL the speaker wires the green, grey, white, purple ones from both harnesses to this.

thanks

does anyone have a model number for the wire harness that is compatible on the 370z that has the factory bose system installed?

bigaudiofanat 10-18-2010 09:13 PM

You just use the same one that you use in the base model install. Only difference is you have to install this in between the harnesses.
