Base 370z alarm

What entails having these alarms and what will make them go off? I remember one time in my 350, I had the engine off and I was sitting inside with the doors closed and locked. I manually unlocked the doors, opened it and the alarm went off. But the 370 doesn't do that. I haven't found anything that will make the alarm sound yet...besides the panic button of course. Does anyone have any info on this, I'm just curious since I've had the car for a year and a half and I still am clueless haha

Mine goes off if I manually unlock it :icon14:

Ok, well..mine doesn't... are you inside with the car on or off?

Use the key...

Car off, locked with the windows down. Walk up and manually unlock the door. I do not think the alarm is set unless you hit the lock twice on the key

Yes???

I know I read the specifics of the alarm in the manual, I want to say it only goes off if the doors/hood/rear hatch open without the key near the car, it has no motion/seismic aspects to it(aka someone could tow it and it wont go off).

This is what I understood as well.

No window sensor, tow etc. I'm about to viper equip my precious.

Having your car jacked up and having your wheels stolen doesn't set it off, from personal experience. So don't worry about that.

OMG! I would be so pissed if someone did that to me. The main thing I worry about is auto theft and my 370 is equiped with Lo-jack.

I hate aftermarket alarms as they are always annoying. The stock alarm will go off from forced entry or glass breakage which is really all you need. My car is garaged 85% of the time and my home has a formidable security system with cameras and motion sensors. I dont worry needlessly.

Ah screw the alarm, I just want the "Tinko tink" sound, that's real talk.

An alaram I recommend would be the viper 5902. The remote is a color screen and also has over a mile of range. With the tilt accessory for the alarm, it can sense when the vehicle is being jacked up and therefore the alarm will panic. Mind you, this alarm isn't cheap.

I would recommend the 5901 the 02 i have heard of poor battery life and faulty controllers. Plus the 01 has a 2 mile range.

I'm just worried about my audio equipment. They risk of someone being dumb enough to try and actually steal the car is minimal considering they are nearly impossible to steal. This type of professional is probably pretty rare in my area, and more likely to spend time on more valuable game.

My audio guy gets clifford products, so that will probably be what I go with.

Jeffblue 06-24-2010 11:31 PM

If your car gets stolen, you probably wouldn't want it back by the time they were done with it.
