I'm glad the stock system sounded like ***.. all the more reason to replace it.

Really not a fan of Bose, but it sounds better than i expected.

Why would nissan put such as a cheap _ss systen in what to me is really
a for the money a world class sports car. It sounds like a cheap 1960s Japanese
hand held radio. Sorry for the vent just wanted to get it off my chest. know what my first mod is.

I wouldnt call the Z a world class sports car but a nice sports car for the money. And the stereo is on standard for the car and with most stock stereos for most cars. There really arent too many stock stereos that would satisfy a person who really wants great sounds in the car.

Having some time to crank my radio on this last trip to Vegas...(and granted, I'm not really "in the know" as far as stereos go..) but I actually enjoy my Tourings Bose/Nav stereo thingy bopper :) I was cranking Hinder pretty loudly and it sounded good to me :)

elixxxer 05-04-2010 10:14 PM

The Bose isn't bad, but the base could and should be better. Frankly, the touring should be better too (for instance the 2010-11 Mustang 500W system is far superior, and the 1000W is just in a different stratosphere).

shadoquad 05-04-2010 10:31 PM

I agree with the sentiment that this is a sports car, and road noise is something I enjoy. The VQ makes a delightful growl.

But I can also understand touring owners being upset if that Bose system isn't living up to the extra cost. I wouldn't know. Mine is base. I didn't even turn the radio on during test drives.

car stereos get better with every year and will never satisfy people. A car company isnt going to put 1000w stereos in stock cars as many people wouldnt want to pay for it. The younger crowd likes loud while the older crowd wants quality over volume and for the most part Bose does this without busting ear drums. Now I put a 400 watt amp to a 8 in woof in the back and it improved the sound greatly without over powering the stock system. The Bose is good for what it was designed to do, give good quality sound at a moderate volume.

SophiaZ 05-04-2010 10:51 PM

Yea..having an upgraded exhaust sounds better than the radio, but the stock exhaust is BORING. I do prefer a nice sounding stereo tho as I don't leave my windows down much..I can hear the VQ sound with the windows up now :)
And yea, the cd's sound much better than stereo

BASE audio sucks *** especially when I came from the TL ELS surround sound

sonic370 05-05-2010 06:53 AM

It may not be world class, but bang for your buck the 370z in its class is in the top three. and my only complaint about the total car which i do love was nissan choose to cut corners on the sound system.the base system sounds like it just came out of a " versa".

bigaudiofanat 05-05-2010 06:58 AM

Mostly any stock sound system blow big time. the sad truth is the bose system is worse that the base system. They always look to cut costs. If you are that worried about audio upgrade just like people have done for years.

This:iagree:

Jeffblue 05-05-2010 07:17 AM

honestly. is bose really that bad? the only people i hear adamantly complaining about it are audiophiles and enthusiasts. I feel like it gets a bad rap from audiophiles etc because they, in order to combat the widespread somewhat ignorant love of bose by the layman, have to criticize bose more harshly than they would otherwise. I think the problem is you've got a lot of people out there pushing bose as THE BEST SPEAKERS AROUND, which they aren't, but in order to combat that opinion, one says 'no **** that, they are the worst!' I think the base system in my altima is fine.

Rhinetom 05-05-2010 07:20 AM

I believe Nissan spent so much money, time, and effort into the performance development of the new 370Z, the stereo was never a priority. Let’s face it, when you first saw this new machine, did you even care about the sound system? I never did.

Wow do I ever disagree with that! The truth is that the Bose system is damned good audio. I never bring it past 20 on the dial, which is more than enough. Had Van Halen on it the other day, sounded great, little or no distortion, excellent fidelity. Bose engineering is in many high-end cars, there is a reason for that. Granted, it's not a 1000w thumper, but in a car, especially a sports car, that is waaay overkill.

I'm one of those "old guys" who prefers quality to volume for volume's sake, I'm a rock/blues musician, and I know a good sound system when I hear one.
