Connecting Amplifier to Base model stereo
 

Sorry if this has been discussed a 1,000 times, but I wasn't able to come up with a solid answer when i searched. I want to install a simple system in my car (just adding 1 amp and subwoofer). I would like to retain my stock stereo (for now) and I'm having trouble getting a solid answer on what to use. I found this product: PAC AOEM-NIS2, but I can't verify it'll work with a 370z (says it works with 2007 350z). It would be perfect for what I want. i don't want to cut/touch any factory wiring. Anyone try it yet? If it's not going to work, what's my next best option? I'd really like a plug n play type application in lieu of splicing wires.

Just to clarify, I have the base model stereo, no Bose.

The PAC SOEM-4 is supposedly used for your situation as well as my recent install (I did the opposite, new HU with otherwise Bose system). The PAC SOEM-4 works in both directions.

You can do this many different ways, you can use the pac you can use a mtx re-q but might be a bit overkill, or a simple LOC "low output converter" any of these will work and all have to be taped into stock wiring.

Here's what I'm planning on (it may be a bit over kill, but again I don't want to touch the factory wiring).

Found Metra 70-7552 and Metra 71-7552, both are wiring harness for Nissan's. One connects to the factory wire harness, the other to the factory radio. So i plan on wiring them together, and do all my splicing to these wires in lieu of tapping into factory lines. Now......do I want a cheap LOC or should i balls up and get a Re-Q.........decisions decisions....

My 2cents, lose the re-q or loc, and pony up for a new HU. It only hurts for a little while :)

for base stereo, all you need is a wiring adapter from scoche, and an amp that accepts hi-level inputs(speaker wires).

Second that! Dont go cheap especially since the LOC already is the weakest link in the system chain.

Do not use LOCs with transformers in them, they are typically the cheap crap you find at walmart of auto parts stores. Also well known names like Stinger, Scosche and PAC make them too and they are slightly better but not what I would use.

Soundgate makes the best units out there but they cost the most. Imagine that! I used these before and there is zero noise and very little loss from these units.
