Ipod connectivity issues

Got a new 2010 370z a few weeks ago. Had some problems with my ipod which was disappointing as this was the model with NAV and ipod connectivity (via the USB port in the centre compartment).

I thought I should put this down here in case anyone has similar problems! There obviously have been a variety of problems, some slightly different and with different ipods.

Firstly, my 32GB Ipod touch wouldn't work. The playlists etc would all be displayed but when you tried to play a song it would work for 2 secs then freeze. The dealership said it was probably the ipod USB cable but I tried another and it didnt make a difference.

Secondly, I updated the ipod touch to the latest version (3 point something). This was a big improvement and the ipod actually played music! However, not perfect as it would usually not pick up albums listed under artists and you couldn't easily change track or album which was annoying. Would also occasionally cut out completely. All these glitches could be corrected by unplugging and then replugging in the USB cable, and the music would then play again. Ok but not exactly great, and I couldn't find any other "fixes" on the web.

Finally, tried my brothers ipod nano and also an ipod classic. Both worked absolutely perfectly. It actually made such a difference being able to easily change the music and knowing it won't suddenly cut out and that you don't have pull the USB in and out....that I caved in and bought a new ipod classic just for the car.

Which works a treat!!

I would just recommend buying a used ipod with a broken screen for your car. I do this for two reasons one, they are cheap on ebay, and two you do not have to worry about a 80 dollar or 110 dollar ipod with a broken screen in your car cooking away in the heat.

I also get the play for 4 seconds then no volume on my iPhone 3Gs. All I do is disconnect the sync cord and reconnect it and it's fine. I'm not sure if the 4 digit PIN code is interfering with it.

:iagree:

I know this does not help the OP but, iPod with broken screen nestled comfortably in center console which I leave connected. I have a Nano in my G which I leave as well and the iPhone stays with me at all time. :tiphat:

my iPhone 3GS works pretty well. One thing to check is if you set up bluetooth streaming audio to the nav this can confuse it. Many times the iPhone wanted to send audio over bluetooth instead of the dock connector. A quick change in the iPod app fixed this each time, but I ended up resyncing the phone without audio and everything seems to work well. Occasionally the Nav will pause the iPhone for me, without asking or my pressing anything. But simply pressing Play/Pause again starts the music.
