Alpine PDX 5 amp location
I am looking at all the amp location spots that have been mentioned here, I am interested in the area under the cross bar where the foam is, does anyone have a pic of that area being installed and when complete? I can't figure it out? also, how do you gain access to it after install?
Thanks Bob |
One of my videos will show you the area pretty well. I put a JL HD900/5 in that area and it fits well. It is about the size of a piece of paper. Epoxy some wood strips to the metal and then screw your amp into that for a concealed location. Getting to it after is kind of a pain just because I have my sub above it. I just pull the box out towards the rear bumper which exposes the foam block.
Once you get your amp settings to your liking you are done and you don't really have a need to get in there to make it an issue. Personally the extra time is worth it just to make a theft that much more difficult |
I saw your video, thanks, it seams like the controls would be blocked by the knee wall? or is that just the way the video is taken? also, did you have to cut or remove foam? and does it get hot? Thanks for your help!

Your gains get set by you no one can tell you where they should be. Every system is different and also using different speakers. Using an oscilloscope is the best way to "tune the system" but you should be able to do it by ear. Just listen for ANY distortion, at the point when you hear distortion back the gain off.
Here is a write up on it. Post #2 http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/6...dio-101-a.html |
