code special :Workshop 12

Woketman 08-10-2022 09:57 AM

Is this for Nav or non-Nav 370Z's??? I suspect that makes a huge difference.

SeeThruHead 08-10-2022 10:16 AM

is this kit associated with workshop 12?
i don't see any mention on their site?
or is the discount code just throwing shade on them

SeeThruHead 08-10-2022 10:57 AM

they are not affiliated with workshop12 in any way
just asked those guys

kind of shady to use a coupon code to insinuate they are tho
not a fan

I've looked into this one. From what I can see, it improves upon the limitations of the actual Brainiac kit (no summertime cooling issues/no dead battery issues/reverse camera functional/phone dialing/terrible sound quality/etc.)... the price, however, is a bit much. That being said, it's cheaper to purchase the 13.6" AuCar version directly from Alibaba/Aliexpress for a savings of ~$60, or one of the 10" or 12" versions with Android 10 for around $5-700. I'm pretty sure they're all made by the same manufacturer(s).

They make versions for both. Youtuber DannyZ has a video of him swapping his Nav-370Z to one and it's pretty plug-and-play.

It does seem to have pros vs brainiac.
i want to know how those knobs work.
What they control.
I guess temp and fan speed?
But there's also climate controls it looks like on the touch screen which is horrible.

I installed mine a few days ago.

The unit comes with harnesses for both nav and non-nav models. I installed in a non nav and was left with an adapter for the factory usb port and factory back up camera.

The knobs at the bottom from left to right control volume, temperature, and fan speed. AC can be controlled thru the knobs or thru the touch screen. the knobs and buttons are RGB backlit and can be customized. Left "power" button mutes audio and right power button turns on/off climate.

Steering wheel controls work out of the box!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I order the same aucar 13.6 android screen but my AC white box doesn't have the 10 pin male plug. My audio head is type 1. (No navigation)
Where do you connect to control the AC knobs?

I've had one if these android based systems before, Joying. They almost work like a standard aftermarket head unit. The only real drawback was that updated/support would end pretty quickly, for example like this is running OS 11 but the current is OS 14 but that wasn't too much of an issue. The only annoyance with these android based units was that they completely shuts down after about 30 of the car being off. So when you go to start your car it runs sluggish for a few minutes till everything gets loaded in the background. Not sure if that's an issue for this model. But the saving grace for the joying unit was that it was inexpensive, even the Workshop12 one was relatively low cost.

Hey my install was also a type 1. The harness that came with the head unit should have all the plus necessary. Aucar has an install video if you need a visual.

This one does something similar. Not exactly sure how many hours it takes but it's not a complete shutown, more like a deep sleep.
The appeal compared to the workshop12 route is just how much works out of the box for a similar price. I got mine from AliExpress for $1,000, can be had for slightly less with coupon straight from aucar. The workshop12 is $299 for the plastics. Then $200-$300 for their electronics. Then you need a tablet and sort the charging situation. On top of that you still need to figure out backup camera and steering wheel controls.

Yes. I did look at their install video. But my AC box doesn't have the 10 pins plug.

It's been a while since i installed mine but looking back at the install video you just leave that box connected to the car harness and shove it back in the dash

These are the same as Nifty City. I just ordered mine Monday. Hopefully it gets here soon. I paid the extra for fastest shipment.
