No More NAV updates

According to Nissans NAV update site the Nav system in the Z will no longer have any Map updates available after this year. V12 is the end of the line.

So... within a year of production end the Z Nav unit is out to pasture....... AND map DVD supply is limited to available inventory only.........

Just one more example how Nissan is washing its hands of 370 support in many areas. So much for the 10 year rule...... on service support.

Us Roadster owners have already been on Nissans short end regarding top parts.... They refuse to sell us any.........

Start buying up OE Parts now!

Base radio with CarPlay/Android auto has always been the way to go for at least half a decade. I'm not surprised.

Sounds like you are pissed at Nissan for some reason...

Who going to spend $130+ for a STATIC update, when you can use you phone for "free"?

They are simply wrapping up the NAV business since ALL newer models offer Apple Car Play or Android Auto.

Built in Nav is dead.

Any mfg. has an obligation to support a model at least for a few years after last production. That is standard practice in the industry. The convention is 10 years. I own 3 Nissans and will buy more but they sometimes make bad moves like any other company.

It is irrelevant that built in NAV is dead or not. The 2020/21 Z was sold with an optional built in NAV and the unit can never have any updates????? Makes no sense.

Nice way to treat customers. My Z is 11 years old so I don't really care but the Z customers who have more recent model years are thrown under the bus on this.

You may be right on physical parts, but software is different and there is no requirement to provide map updates.
I suspect no one will notice because the apps do such a better job.

Sorry but the customers of Z's in the last few years who bought the $2k Nav package would most definitely have a different view.

People who buy a brand new 12 year old car already don't make the most appropriate financial decisions to begin with.

Apart from the fact they made this car up to like 2020 M.Y, it is understandable they're abandoning this.

As dated as it is, Nissan infotainment has never failed me. BT, nav, voice command. Works better than current Mazda imo, and it's a backup if my phone or mount goes doo-doo. I did the 2021 maps just so I have the most up-to-date OEM setup.

No plans to sell the car, and obviously a lot of things not stock, but will be nice to always see some areas with how it just came — one being the HUD and center console, like the early adopters of the 370Z did in 2009 when they drove theirs off the lot. Weird, but eh.

I think this will depend on which country we are talking about. Each country has its specific laws and regulations regarding part availability. In Canada, there are even more specific consumer protection laws for each province. I believe here in Quebec, Nissan will be required to provide map updates for a certain amount of time, at least for the warranty period (most probably longer). I see numerous class action suits coming.

Regardless if some people think onboard NAV is outdated, if it was sold in 2020 it needs to be supported……….period!

I'm kinda annoyed the 2015 update didn't see integrated Android Auto and CarPlay.

One of the reason I chose the 2015 Nismo Tech was I wanted the integration. The smartphone integration of Android Auto is so much nicer, though to get destination on my phone then get in my car and have it take over than the back asswards thing Nissan does with State First (every time), etc. So usually only use it for preset destinations (Home, etc).
