Cerwin Vega spare tire sub vs Wicked C.A.S.

Hi everyone I have the oem Bose system with navigation. I recently changed out my oem sub with the Cerwin Vega spare tire sub. I plan on changing out the front speakers with an amp and DSP. The Cerwin Vega is great for what it is (don't lose any hatch space and sound is much better than Bose sub) However in a previous car I've had a traditional set up of 12" in sub in a box and it provided much more punch and cleaner sound than the Cerwin Vega. Has anyone heard the Wicked Cas corner box and/or spare tire box? Just wondering if the sound is much better than the Cerwin Vega. It is quite expensive so wondering If I can justify spending the extra money to get better sound. I would consider myself an audiophile.

I have been considering the Cerwin Vega. Does it fit well? Are you able to keep the spare tire?

I can't answer in regards to comparing the CV vs the Wicked CAS box. However, regarding how much the WCAS box cost: for the price it leaves a lot to be desired.

1. Sound wise, it'll depend on what you put in it and what you power it with. I have a Polk MM10 powered by a Polk 4-channel with the rear channels bridged to the sub and the sound is great.

2. The build quality, on the other hand, was mediocre. I had to sand and file the opening to actually fit the sub and the entire box is fiberglass vs having a wooden ring where the sub is mounted and fiberglassed around it; and on top of that, the fiberglass isn't super thick where it mounts either. So, if you're not super-duper careful, you'll just end up having some "loose" screws, so to speak.

3. They do not provide any way/shape/form of securing the enclosure. I was told by them some years ago that I could just toss it in the back and it would fit perfectly without moving around buuuuut learned the hard way that was false when I took a turn at speed and the box ended up in the middle of the hatch. I have black L brackets holding it in now that seem to do the job, but it's crude and my OCD kicks in everytime I'm in the hatch and see them. Most folks don't seem to notice them though, so that's a minor plus.

The spare tire box would probably be the better buy but I'd avoid the corner box unless you just like the way it looks and can get around its shortcomings.

Thanks for this it'll really help me in making a decision.
