2016 base USB line?

Hi all,

How is USB line(with port in armrest) connected to stock head unit? Is it buried in factory harness or ran separately with standard USB plugs-plug and play into aftermarket unit?
Planning to put aftermarket DD and would like to reuse existing USB port location, quite convenient.
It is non-Bose 2016 base unit.
Thank you for your help!

If nobody comes up with an answer soon, that info will be in the FSM (link in sig).

I don't expect you to do anything. I just gave you an option.

That's the reason why message boards are dying: RTFM point ran itself out in the 90's. If I wanted to RTFM, I would've effin do that, ain't I?
I want an easy answer...pleaseeeee...?

You can pull the console out and find out where it goes. Then post on it. Because maybe no one else knows either.

I'm not sure about the non-bose but on my bose system, the usb cable ran directly from the center console to the back of the stock headunit. I was able to buy an adapter cable that fit the factory cable plug and had the male usb on the other end that plugged into my aftermarket headunit.

The cable is essentially mini-usb on both ends (with a plastic clip for retention), so any USB-A to mini cable will work if you want to use the stock port with an aftermarket stereo.

You're right, it's been so long since I did mine I couldn't remember what cable it was.
