Hello everyone, I've been on here for a while now and have tried my share of Infiniti/Nissan vehicles.

I have gotten spoiled by the Bose sound system in the G37 coupe, as it's a whole different world compared to our Bose system. (Has a center channel, tweeters on the door, different speaker sizes etc)

My tweeters are crackly in the Z so I figured that it's better to upgrade them instead of just slapping on a used set. My main concern with the 370Z is that the tweeters just don't sound that good at all. The voices come alive in the G37 coupe, and it just makes music a lot more enjoyable.

I was thinking about copying the G37 design and adding tweeters in the door area (check pics) and also switching out the 2.5" tweeters in the dash to the G37 tweeters as they're both Bose.

370Z VS G37

Has anyone done something similar and got good results? I'm definitely not looking to spend a lot of money in switching out anything more than the tweeters etc.

Nothing wrong with adding more speakers. But why not just upgrade the tweeters in the Z? A proper component speaker setup with amplifier will sound way better than the Bose system in your G37.

I used these to replace the Bose tweeters;

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CUR77YI...v_ov_lig_dp_it

Had to get creative with the mounting, just took the old speaker and traced out a pattern using some plastic, cut a new hole for the speak and screws. Also, did not use the provided crossovers, the Bose HU/AMP provides this functionality.

The result, orders of magnitude better sound, really wakes the system up.

Replacing the components entirely is the first thing anyone should do in the Z. I was shocked by how horrible the stock system is.

Paired with a nice headunit and the Cerwin Vega sub, my system sounds infinitely better than almost any oem system I've heard, and I didn't go all out by any means.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try upgrading the tweeters using the same ones @flyfish used. I'll update this thread later on with my impressions.

Unfortunately I'm not in the mood to discard the whole Bose sound system, as I'm pretty involved in the drivetrain already and don't wanna add another project.

Do it once and right, replace the woofers and the tweeters with a component set that way they will blend better.

So I got those tweeters used by flyfish and I didn't really love them, so I returned them and got good Bose tweeters that weren't blown.

It's still not good but honestly I've just come to accept that it's not going to sound good without a lot of modifications so I'll just listen to the exhaust instead LOL

It doesn't take a lot of money to upgrade the stock system (Bose or base). You just have to go all the way and replace everything. A budget component speaker system, amp and head unit can be a huge upgrade without a huge investment.

That being said, a vehicle is a terrible sound stage and windows down are very pleasing on the ears. I have a very nice home theater audio setup for when I want to listen to music.

I installed some Scanspeak Illuminator D3004-6020 tweeters in the stock location. They sound amazing. The space is deep so you could probably go with any of the models, although I got the shallow ones because I originally was going to put them somewhere in a 350z.

Hope you installed a bass choker or crossover in line for them. They won't last very long without them
