Hey Guys,
I just read the translated manual and i get the impression that the engine will stop when the door is opened (if the engine was started with the remote starter). Is that what you expect or do you think i got it wrong?

If you email the files to me I will host them for free without having to deal with rapidshare. I've been trying for 30 minutes to get the first file. :) spamlee@reprehensible.net

The Honda factory remote start works the same way, so that wouldn't be completely surprising.

So . . you remote start your car, go open the door to get in, the motor shuts off and you have to start it up again? I guess that sorta makes sense from an anti-theft perspective. Bit of a PITA though.

roplusbee 01-22-2010 02:02 PM

I can see the security standpoint, but it would be very inconvenient to start your car with the remote start, open the door, and then have to restart the car after getting in.

This is how it works. The Toyota dies as soon as you hit the unlock on the key fob.

This is only on factory units, aftermarket units don't share this.

Hey guys, took the car to my installer and he said the harness connectors don't match up. He's unwilling to plug the wires into compatible US harnesses. So, if anyone is interested in doing this themselves, PM me. Otherwise, I'll be posting this system and translated files on eBay in the next week or two, for less than retail price.

Although I will be taking a hit on this "experiment", I do prefer factory parts, and was willing to take the risk. At the very least, one question some forum members have been asking for the past year has been answered.

I think my next choice will be the Viper system with iPhone remote start. Anyone know the cheapest site for ordering the necessary parts?

Thanks...

vipor 01-29-2010 02:22 PM

The price you would pay to have it installed if you buy it yourself will probably be higher than if you got a good shop to do it.

Remote Start w/ CAN Bus and the iPhone Module... The install will probably cost about 350$ or more.

kdoske 01-29-2010 04:00 PM

that sucks, I was really hoping it would work out.
