Radio locked after disconnecting battery

Whenever I do work on a car I always disconnect the negative battery terminal. I've disconnected the battery on the z several times with no problems. This time when I started
the car after getting everything put barck together, my base radio just says "system secure. Please contact dealer". I can't interact with it at all. Oddly enough, it reconnects to my phone over Bluetooth, but I can't do anything with it.

Do I really have to let the dealership rape my wallet for them to connect their tool for five minutes to reset my radio?

What caused this this time but never before?

From looking around, other posts are poiniting to the dealer route. If you bought the Z used, check to see if the previous owner has the code written down in the owners manual. Maybe its time for an aftermarket stereo upgrade??

I'm still confused. Are you saying there is some code that I can put in the radio somehow?

I had a Honda accord that would go to security lock whenever the battery was disconnected and I had to enter the unlock code, so I'm pretty sure it's the same with ylthe z. But with the Honda, I was able to google the code, with the z, seems the code is tied in with the S/N. Give the dealership a call and see what 5hey have to say.

Hey were you able to fix this issue? I'm running across the same problem, and the dealer seemed stumped on what to do.

Here in Australia we call call into a dealer, show ID that matches ownership records and they can look up the unlock code (4 or 6 digit PIN) online on the Nissan system

Is a $0 customer service thing - service advisor can do it.

:iagree:

Any dealership should be able to get the code for you. Some vehicles, like my old Honda, have the code written on a sticker on the side of the glovebox, so you might check around there first.

FSM might tell you where the code sticker/card/whatever is located.
