Subwoofer recommendation

Do you guys recommend a good subwoofer and amplifier for the subwoofer box with the recessed z logo? Thanks

CrimsonTide 11-10-2018 10:11 PM

I just bought a box from ZEnclosure (Mike) and it is awesome~! I went with (2) 10" Kickers - I think CVR102's and it's powered with a Kicker 800.5 amp along with the rest of my speakers... It sounds great~!

Did you replace the kickers with the ones on the doors?

CrimsonTide 11-11-2018 12:54 PM

I used component tweeters in the dash, 6.5's in the door, and 3.5's behind the seats with the (2) - 10's in the back...

CrimsonTide 11-11-2018 12:59 PM

All the speakers are Kicker...

See if this works... The amp is just stuck to the top with a piece of velcro for the time being. I still have to decide where I am going to mount it permanently...

I have the z box with one apline type S 12, man it hits pretty hard!

Damn that’s nice, both subs are connected to the head unit correct? Also, do you have spacers

Yeah I think with one should be enough for me

370zBLAST 11-12-2018 06:39 AM

Its a tiny car, and the way the subwoofer is positioned the bass bounces off the back window. It hits lovely. To the point where it's to bassy for my taste. I had to dial the bass back. the only reason why I went that route was because I basically had everything except the subwoofer box. I only wanted Something like two steps above the tech package Bose system. My system is definitely overkill for my taste BUT cost me near nothing lol

I always liked Alpine. I ran a single 12 type R with a 1000 mono Alpine amp and it was crazy loud and sounded clear and crisp. I had it in my Eclipse.

Lvcky69 11-12-2018 05:28 PM

do you guys have any pics? just trying to come up with ideas :))

Both subs are connected to the Kicker amp which is connected to the head unit via RCA cables.

I bought the spacers for the doors but they didn't seal up worth a crap so I made a mounting bracket using the original plastic 6"x9" mount. I'll try to get a few photos up showing what I'm talking about.

I had considered 1-12". I just thought that the 2-10"s would give me tighter bass.. I'm sure the 1-12" sounds great also~!!

The cheap bracket is what Best Buy installed... I got home and took the door panels off and used the original mounting bracket. I think it's much cleaner and definitely has better acoustics~!

I have my system setup with factory door speakers, and an alpine type s w/ apline amp setup as a Mono sub. Basically all the bass is sent to the sub only. Very clean and clear setup. My amp is small so it hides underneath the foam that is used to make the truck carpet sit flat.

Do you have the Bose system? Maybe that’s why because the base, the sound is horrible

I don't mind the base speakers... I removed the OEM crossovers and run the base speakers in an active config using 'network mode' on my pioneer headunit. Have a little 450w mono amp powering an 8" Alpine Type R.

Not going to rattle any neighboring vehicles, but it's enough for me... kind of the sweet spot of price/sound/features/storage space.

High praise from a real car audio guy!

I have a base setup. I didnt hookup the speakers to the amp. I had the radio take care of that.

No I didn't use Dynamat for my install but if you don't use it you usually end up wishing you did

I just put a Wicked Cas corner fiberglass enclosure in my car.Going from a carpeted wood enclosure this was a nice upgrade. It sounds better in the corner for me,takes up way less space and the great part about it is the entire unit weighs 13 lbs with sub!!!It sounds very tight and impactful, maybe lacks a little deep bass but I'm ok with that.Didn't have time to clean it up,still a little messy....

Interesting Build

I have never seen a sub type like yours, interesting in the way you moved it from a center upward vertical mount to a rear side panel setup

Lvcky69 03-05-2019 07:55 AM

Hey fam I want to make sure I have everything and see if it is possible to buy these without running into issues with the speakers and the amp. This is what I have in mind so far

This is going into the Z box
Kicker CompRT 10" 1-Ohm Subwoofer

These will replace the two front speakers along with the ones on each mirrors
Kicker CSS65

and obviously the amp to amp the speakers+sub
Kicker 46CXA4001 Car Audio Class D Amp Mono 800W Peak Sub Amplifier

Jetsimple 03-11-2019 12:48 PM

I’m no expert, but I don’t think that amp is made to power your components. Only the sub.
