My audio system keeps cycling mp3s...

Guys….

You seem to be the Zed experts here. I need a hand. I drive a 370Z with the black simple BOSE audio system (no nav). I have a USB stick connected with my mp3 music lib on.

Everytime i select RANDOM FOLDER or RANDOM ALL, the system picks about 3-5 mp3 albums (have an album as one mp3 file, no per-song split) and keeps rotating them over and over, completely ignoring the rest of the 123 album lib.

Any experience with this glitch? Any solutions?

Thanks & Happy Zedding!

370Z bought 2016, Pearl White, Akrapovic rezonators + exhausts, enjoying the show!:excited:

Have you tried putting all the music files in the root folder of the stick?

I have a usb stick with about 1200 songs on it, and copies of it in my 2 other cars.
My Pioneer P99 has no issues, and will shuffle randomly through all the songs, as will the stock head unit in my 17 subaru, but I recently purchased a used Titan with a cheap aftermarket head unit in it (its like a $160 soundstream) On that unit, I would say there were about 20 songs that just kept repeating again and again... It got to the point where I could almost predict what song was next..... I yanked it, and replaced with a better unit, And all is well.
I'm not a computer guy, and am not familiar with the heirarchy of usb flash drives, so I can't speak to that, I just load 'em on and let 'em play..
As Southark370z mentioned above, it may have something to do with how they are stored on the drive, or it may just be cheap *** electronics in the head unit....

Thanks guys! My head unit is the original black one (no nav, 2nd best car equipment level, the top one has the big screen nav). I will have a look at the file organisation on the stick and I will also try a different one.

Cheers!:hello:

Hey CRC,
The issue is the OS of the factory radio can only recognize "XX" amount of objects. Say if it's 250 then 250 songs, or 125 songs in 125 folders etc. All the asia made cost effective radios are made this way. They're not PCs and are made with usually a set top DVD chipset for the multimedia.
