3 way Component speaker system

Anyone running 3 way comp speakers system. All of the kits were too big for dash. After researching a lot I came across this.

Brand X 3 Way Component Speaker system
BRAND-X XXLHDS3
https://www.halfpricecaraudio.com/BR...8aAgvwEALw_wcB

I got a deal on eBay for $99 bucks. Going to give it a try.
If you guys are running different 3 way. Can you post what you guys are running?

I'm really digging Audiofrog right now.

I'll be updating my focals kr components to all audiofrog gear soon.

GB10 in a pillar
GB25 in dash
GB60 in door

if you are not running active you'll need to purchase crossovers separately as well.

I have the pair of GB25 and they are just absolutely amazing and fits in the dash where the stock tweeter was located with some slight modification to bold down.

I was hesitant to put a hole in my A Pillar but they are cheap enough to replace so i went ahead and did it. I think the GB10 will fit better then the Focal tweeter but it doesn't look too bad right now.

powered by Focal FDP 6.900
Audiocontrol DM810 is handling the crossover and TA.

Audiofrog is definitely fantastic stuff, and all the rage right now, But somehow I feel like the OP might not consider them at about $1400 over the $99 he paid for the Brand X set....Lol
You gotta be pretty fanatical about your tunes to pay retail for the Frogs. I do like the fact that they come with a whole host of hardware for mounting options.

LOL I'm Not cheap
You didn't get what I was trying to say.. I spent pretty good money on my car. I said to try them out since they are 99 only. Which means I give a damn about spending that to just try them out. Who knows I might like them and I won't so on to the next one. That is why I was asking on this post everyone to post their setup so I can get ideas.

DrNumbers 04-03-2018 08:31 PM

Price isn't everything, but $100 for a full component set is blowing my mind. I wish you luck with those components.

Front Stage: Audible Physics Brahmas, Audible Physics V2 in dash (midrange), and HAT L1pro tweeters in sail panels.
Subs: 2 HAT c8sw
Amps: Zapco ZLX150.6 and Zapco ST-800XM
DSP: Audison bit-one

In the next month or so, I'm replacing my amps with Tru Technology amps (T4 and T2 Grande). And the subs are going to be replaced with either 2 Raven 10XL subs, or a 12" illusion carbon sub.
Within a couple months after that, the tweeters will be replaced with Micro Precision Z-series.

So if you (or anyone else) would like to pick up some audio equipment (tweeters with sail panels included, two 8" hybrid audio clarus subs, or my zapco amps) in excellent shape (only been ran about 8 months) at great prices, let me know. I still have all the original boxes too.

I already bought the box from zenclosure. Which handles 2 10". Thanks though

:icon17: Didn't mean it to sound that way.... And I can't blame you for trying them out for $100, either. I have always been a firm believer that more $$ doesnt make better sound.
I used to run a $1000 Hertz set. Currently I am running
Sub----Stereo Integrity BMmkiv (soon to be replaced with 2 BMmkv's)
Low----Stereo Integrity TM65v2
Mid-----Dayton Audio RS75-4
High----Stereo Integrity TM25

So far this thing looks fantastic. Came in suitcase. For $99 bucks lol.

Questions on this stats for the Midbass Driver. It seems unbelievable.

6.5'' Midbass Driver

Grey Ultra-Lite Pulp Woofer Cone With Colth Surround
High Density Ferrite Magnet
1'' High Temperature Nsv, Ccaw Voice Coil
Hand Polish Chromed Frame And Magnet Cover
Power Handling: 1000 Watts Rms / 2000 Watts Max.
Impedance: 4 Ohm
Frequency Response: 80hz-21 Khz

2'' Silk Dome Midrange

Neodymium Magnet
60 Watts Rms / 120 Watts Peak
Frequency Response: 800hz-4khz
Impedance: 4 Ohm

1'' Silk Dome Swivel Tweeter

Neodymium Magnet
3 Mounting Options: Flush ,Surface And Angle Mount
50 Watts Rms / 100 Watts Peak
Frequency Response: 1.4k-24khz
Impedance: 4 Ohm

Should I use the crossover and get 2 Channel AMP or get 6 Channel Amp to drive them separately?

i would do 6ch or at the very least bi-amp on 4 ch with 6" separate with bandpass crossover on amp and mid/high on the passive network.

Most 3 way systems i've seen require bi-amping at a minimum but i can't really see the crossovers on these.

Tusharp83 04-04-2018 07:33 PM

Let me get this straight you are saying get 4ch amp and and have 1ch run to crossover and 2ch run to crossover 3 and 4 running separate for each midbass right?

RonRizz 04-04-2018 08:22 PM

what are you using for head unit?
that may come into play if you want to use a 6 channel amp.

Tusharp83 04-04-2018 10:38 PM

I have Kenwood 9703s

RonRizz 04-05-2018 05:36 AM

Are you running a Sub, and if so, is it on its own amp?

bigaudiofanat 04-05-2018 06:41 AM

i'm cringing over those brand X's. You get what you pay for sadly in the speaker world. I hope I'm wrong but they are probably going to be very harsh speakers. I would of added 5 bucks and went with a higher end 2 way setup. What I've found in the business is a well installed 2 way setup can beat a 3 way setup that was simply installed any day. If you're running the 3 ways off the head unit you're going to severely under power them, take 22 watts and divide between 3 speakers, not to mention the power loss in the crossover.

That's correct. its just a workaround with what you got.

But if you plan on going all out I'd just get what you need now. Especially if you want to give those speakers a fighting chance.

I agree with Bigaudiofan that you get what you pay for but i also think you can make some of the crappiest speakers work with the right install, tuning and clean power.

There are a lot of new 6ch amps out now that have built in DSPs. You can get one of those. I'm also assuming any subs are on a separate amp.

Jayhovah 04-05-2018 11:36 AM

Even if they suck, you still got that sweet suitcase.

I am going with amplifier on those.

Tusharp83 04-09-2018 11:41 PM

Update: They don't fit in the doors or the dash... so I gave it a shot by doing some fabrication(Door Speaker). They sounded pretty good(of course better than stock speakers) but since I can't use 3 way like I wanted to, They ended back up in that big A** suitcase they came in. I listen to JBL Club COMP on my friends car and I'm little impressed with them so I'll order those.

RonRizz 04-10-2018 05:36 AM

what type of fitment issues are you having? Information is scarce on the web about these speakers. what is the mounting depth of the woofers, and the cutout size/overall size of the mids?

Go with a set of Image Dynamics CXS or Focal's you'll be much happier. Make sure you get a spacer ring for the mounting depth.

Yeah I'm able to fit almost any speaker in those doors that is a 6.5

Which focal series you are talking about? I had ID before in my old car i had before.. never liked them. Never was clear.. may be because I never used amp with them?

The Weapon 04-11-2018 03:24 PM

For Focal - I would stay away form integration and access level, too expensive for what you get. You are just paying for name.

Once you get into:

Performance - Expert Line (polyglass or flax)
or K2 line sounds good to me.

you are paying for name but at least they sound good and are worth it.

I think your system was never tuned properly if you never heard them clearly.
I've installed at least 13 pairs in Z's and never had a complaint.

For focal I would look at the discontinued model polyglass or the K2, PS, and performance lines.
