Android Tablet in dash

Hey guys, after wanting nav in my 40th anniversary I took it upon myself to kind of make my own solution. I ordered a factory nav bezel as a used part on ebay, did a whole bunch of hacking on things, and came up with this. It is not complete, since there needs to be some cleaning up of the cut, but it works perfectly for me. The tablet is a Galaxy tab 4. I used the following apps to make this work:

Autosleeper makes the tablet sleep and wake when the car turns off and on, respectively

Screen Shift allowed me to perfectly resize the screen to the opening on the nav bezel

Floating Toucher allows me to open up a small panel containing things like the home and back buttons by pushing a spot on the screen, since these buttons are now hidden

Car Launcher is a sleek and intuitive interface that is more pleasing to look at than a regular homescreen

I decided to keep the OEM radio for the functionality of the blueooth and sirius systems. In doing so, I had to grind away most of the bottom side of the bezel buttons, so they do not work. The audio is handled via the OEM aux jack with an inline ground loop isolator, and power comes from a 90 degree power cord that comes out right beside the passenger side 12v outlet. I also have a bluetooth OBD2 module with the Torque app to read data from the ECU

Here is a gallery of pictures I took during the process.

Geez, didn't realize the navigation bezel protruded out so much.

Nice effort, but also a waste of real estate with the buttons...will be interesting to see the fabrication you do to get rid of the overhang.

i'm thinking I should have continued with my project and went through with it (there might still be hope )
