I was just wondering as to which wiring harness i need exactly if i wanna put in an aftermarket head unit but still have the bose subs and speakers work. I know it has to be the ones with the RCA's but i cant find it anywhere. Anyone have a link for one? :hello:

There more to swapping out that radio than a simple wire harness adapter. See this thread and start sourcing out the parts needed on ebay:

Yes already read :-)

I have already ordered AV amplifier and standard AC buttons + stuff to connect them. AC is covered !

My concern is about the HU now

Then all you need is the Metra 70-7553 harness and axxess steering wheel control harness.

I did exactly what the OP is trying to accomplish. The only difference is I am a Nismo 370Z Non-Nav. For wiring the kit I got on Amazon.com is the 'Nissan 370Z 2009-2018 Non-NAV Single/Double DIN Stereo Harness Radio Dash Kit' by Harmony audio. It comes with:

Metra 99-7607B DIN/DDIN Dash Kit for 2009-Up Nissan 370Z (Matte Black):

Harmony Audio HA-707552 Fits Infiniti Nissan Subaru Factory Stereo to Aftermarket Radio Harness Adapter:

and

Harmony Audio HA-40NI12 Fits Nissan Factory Radio to Aftermarket Antenna Adapter:

I get to keep my factory cubby and now have a nice Android HU with all the useful bits you could want. Nav. Streaming Media. Backup Camera... Etc. This may not fit what you are trying to do so please do your homework. The factory Bose Speakers and Sub still function perfectly. Volume control is better attenuated in the Android HU by running Agama Car launcher as needed. Otherwise I am delighted with the results. Should be a factory option on any Double Din dash opening. Cost outlay is really minimal. Just a bit of soldering to get the wiring harnesses done.

Thanks a lot guys !!

I don’t need steering wheel controls I never used them, nor radio antenna as I plan to install a Lexan rear windshield.

Metra harness has cinch connectors, not the Harmony one so I’m surprised.
I was thinking cinch are mandatory for the Bose amp. Wrong ?

Stormtroopr 05-05-2019 02:03 AM

Guys
Did you used this to connect the OEM rear camera ?

Or something else ?

I just tapped the wires from the factory harnesses. Video + signal and ground were connected to the display harness. Used an old RCA cable that I cut one of the ends off of for that. The reverse power was in one of the harnesses that plugged into the radio. Check out the wiring diagrams in the service manuals to locate the correct wires.

Update: Added SW Controls.

Update to this post. I just added the SW Controls to this Android HU install. I bought an additional Harmony Audio HA-707552 adapter and pulled all of the pins out of this to add a couple to the original adapter I installed. This gave me access to the Steering Wheel Control Buttons. There’s only three that are usable, but SRC and Volume Control are my most used functions. I can change this programming any time I need to on the Android HU. About an hours work but excellent results. In all this work I still retain the ability to re-install the original Nissan HU. None of the Nissan wires were cut to make this install happen.

Hope this inspires you to take this project on yourself out there. It’s not that tough. I am still using all the Bose speakers and amp that came with the factory Craptacular HU. If nothing else, I have a better audio setup in my ride that in this day and age should be a factory option. Even if they would offer a factory Bose wiring setup with the speakers and leave it up to the owner to furnish the audio portion, A win in my view.

My two cents....

Wait are you saying you used that harness with a bose system? Big no no, you're pumping a amplified signal into the bose amp which is amping it again. So you're sending a massively clipped (distorted signal) to your speakers. They won't last very long.:eekdance:

I get your point.

I get that. But, there are app controls that can help you to control the output levels coming from the Android HU. Agama Car Launcher is one. I use this to control output level when I need to. I really do not have a distorted sound quality. If I do tear it all up, then a gut and speaker rebuild is warranted and justified. For me this is about a budget build and live with the choices. I am not out a great deal of cash for this setup. I like how it worked out.

By default, absolutely, it could eventually tear up my speakers. For now I am happy to live with the compromise that the additional app controls offer. I will say that this may not be for everyone, but it does work with all of the factory wiring and is controllable. Do not fear for your setup. By the time you start down the HU replacement road, it never is a single destination journey. I fully expected to do the speakers and amps at some point. Been down this road many times. But I do appreciate the note of caution.

You should be running the bose metra adapter to the rca outputs of your head unit. If not you should be using a LOC to drop from high level to low level. Yeah it's shouldn't be done by anyone. I highly advise against anyone doing this.

Metra 70-7553? Does it have the SWC wiring as well? For $11.42 +tax on Amazon, it is not a bad deal. I'll snap one up and see about a rewire. I'll post the results.
