2012 Base Rear Speaker Install

Hooked up some 4" JBL's in the rear. I love how the rear now fills in the overall sound experience. Now all I need is a sub. Overall not a bad install. Holes were cut out for the speakers and I ran the wire along the sides and under the carpet. Soldered to the rear speaker wires on the HU harness and BOOM!

Enjoy the pics.

I'm with you.
It's an ongoing argument, but I think it sounds so much better with rear speakers.

Does the factory harness have any wiring leading back there?

On the Base Z no. You have to run speaker wire and connect it to the rear speaker wires coming from your HU harness.

Somebody should do a DIY for rear speaker install. Plenty of members will benefit from it.

I was looking in to do this on my Z also. I agree with the sound being better. But the wires that you connected to are existing on the HU harness? Reason I ask is that in the past when I was researching this I read that the pins where missing on the connector and had to be added. If all that needed is to run wire and connect to the harness plug it's a no brainer

Yup. Just ran and connected to the HU harness. Easy Peasy.
