rear spkrs for back
 

Hey all, I have the Bose system and I like it (I know most dont), it works for me but I have a question. Why are the back side speakers so low on the volume? When the stereo is playing the front spkrs and woofers cover up what they are producing? Are they there for a certain range? Im used to hearing music all around and from the back so I am thinking of changing only the back ones out, what would work good with existing ones? Thanks.

Because they can not handle a lot of power because of there size, it would not even be worht the time or effort to upgrade them either. Just search around you will find other threads about things like this. A lot of people are upgrading the bose system because of the poor quality.

I just don't understand having a set of highs in the rear of a 2 seater car. I'm not an expert on audio, but I've always had setups (whether audio or home) with highs being as close to in front and level with my ears as they can be.

The only time I've ever seen highs in the rear of cars is when the car is a 4 door.

They should have found a way to fit some 6x9s back there instead, sort of like the positioning of the old mustangs rear speakers.

The rears are there for fill. They are not there as primary speakers..

Correct also your front stage should be in front of you not in the rear. Think of it this way a concert you are listening and watching it in front of you, that is where you want your audio to come from. Also artist record there music in 2 channel stereo not 4 channel.

The rears are suppose to work with the Dual Subs. (Which is why those without the subs didn't receive the rear speakers) They are the mid frequency and you should not be able to hear them. You should hear the majority of sound coming from the front and technically you aren't even suppose to be able to tell the Bass is coming from in the rear either.

Sorry, but a 4 inch woofer is not going to help give you mids that would be missing. The fronts by themselves would do that better. The 6.5 inch woofers will take care of the mids, subs take care of lows. Now if you were going to do a 3 way front stage with a 3 way crossover that would be different but to add them to rears not going to help.

For people who may still want to install/upgrade the rears, I have read that 3.5 is a drop-in and 4" would still fit with some mods.

Out of curiosity, what is the maximum speaker height the rears could take?

Not even sure, the installs I have done on the Z have not included rears. People just decided not to use them.
