Do i need speaker spacers for 6.5 Alpine type r components

PLEASE HELP!!!!Hi all, please help with problem.I just bought Alpine type r 6.5 components for the front and i dont know if i need to buy spacers or are a direct fit? Also can anyone recommend speaker wire.I wanna buy everything online before taking it to installer at Best Buy.

The new alpine components use neodymium magnets which allow the magnets to be much smaller but even so I'd reccommend using a spacer of some kind. As far as speaker wire, it's 18 gauge throughout the car so I'd use 18, maybe 16, gauge.

And don't take it to Best Buy!! Find a good shop.

To be fair, some of the guys that work at best buy aren't bad. That's were I started and I got a kickass reputation for doing awesome installs. I used to be the go-to for the members of the viper club of america of NJ while working at best buy.

Thanks guys for the info, i guess i'll add spacers and go with 16 gauge wire. Can anyone recommend any spacers or are they all the same.?BTW taking to best buy for install because im a little low on cash so im gonna use my b.b.credit card.Plus i hear you can catch some decent installers sometime

Use the OEM speakers as spacers. You rip out the paper part out and cut the plastic brace that s pier to the middle magnet out. Then you screw the new speaker to the plastic that is left.

That or the plastic spacers you can order from Crutchfield. I got ambitious and cut mine from 3/4" MDF. I used a couple heavy coats of Kilz sealant with hopes of warding off moisture absorption.

True. I remember one of the installers out in Vegas was pretty damn good if he still works there. Used to get a lot of highend cars
