With "THE NEW" Pioneer Amps, there is no sacrifice between quality and quanity in building the ulimate system.

Damn Conch...

i have to ask...

do you own stock in pioneer?!? i mean really...do you have to promote them in every post!!!

I've never liked Pioneer amps, only Head Units. Their Kevlar separates are/were decent and their Premier amps were merely above average.

I used to love pioneer .... used to. They seemed to go dramatically downhill circa 2002. Not sure if they ever turned back around like conch is saying, but I used to be the biggest pioneer brand snob, now, eh. Now that I think about it, the quality seems to of started going down around the same time they changed logos:

LOL I can agree with that somewhat. I did 12V from about 98 through 04 and it progressed from a fairly decent line to a strictly head unit line. I'll still be purchasing a Pionner HU when I upgrade my system, but I'll go with MTX or JL or something for amps when time comes.

kdo2milger 11-06-2009 09:13 AM

shouldve stayed with their previous logo...:shakes head:

JL amps are really a Great Amp.........maybe a little better than Pioneer's amps, But, there is no denying the overall quality & features that the New Pioneer HU's have over the competition.

bigaudiofanat 11-06-2009 10:36 AM

LOL Jl is one of the top manufactures way better than pioneer. As far as pioneer having more features, na you need to look at kenwood and alpine again.

Also pioneer is sold at walmart along with cheap stuff like sony and valor, There I am done.

vipor 11-06-2009 10:37 AM

the pioneer line at wally world is made for them specifically. they do not carry the standard product. if you notice the p/ns are missing a digit or two. they cheap out on preamp voltage and eq/outputs.

When someone inquires about purchasing a quality Head Unit, I recommend Kenwood, Pioneer and Eclipse. These Head Units are at the top! Anyone who bashes them are really in the minority or have an alternative motive.

Are you for real??

here is an easy example you might understand.......

Walmart & Costco sells Sony HDTV. They are at the bottom of Sony's HDTV product line. Its only for name recognition. You will never see the XBR or Z series at Costco or Walmart. People who shop at discount stores are looking for discounts.

Thanks guys. Been doing more research on Soundstream the last few days and felt the same way - all the awards they've won have been really old ones. there are just so many choices out there it's starting to feel a little overwhelming.

I think I'm just going to say "F-it" and splurge on a boston acoustics gt-2300. Way out of my original price range but I've found them online for $550.

- 300 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (500 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms)
- 1-ohm stable in stereo mode (700 watts RMS at 1 ohm)

Really high reviews for SQ, plus keeps everything consistent with the BA G5 10-44 subs I have. Means waiting another 2 weeks to purchase but should give me really nice, clean power and sound.

bigaudiofanat 11-06-2009 11:02 AM

I think you will like the BA's if you need any help just ask! Now also keep in mind your amp will not be putting out 700 watts because you are going to be running at 2 ohms not 1. Also make sure to look at car audio 101 thread for how to set your gains, that way you can enjoy your setup for years to come!
