Product of $50 and boredom

I've wanted to mount a tablet in my car for a while so I decided to get rid of the driver's side vanity mirror

Got this for $50

Cut out the Styrofoam inside the visor and did a test fit

At this point I started getting lazy. Fed the wire to power it through the little metal arm. Such a pain in the ***.

Can never have enough electrical tape

Holy **** wasn't actually planning on this working

I'll try to get some pics of it mounted up tomorrow.

That's pretty slick. How's your the visibility? Does the visor stay up even with the added weight?

Visor stays up no problem. There's a slight glare but nothing that I can't live with. I might try to see if I can find a matte screen protector.

I can't imagine how this would've looked if I didn't have the attention span of a gnat and spent more than a total of 45 minutes on it.

Looks like you have a nice pot of gold in the 3rd to last picture. :tiphat:

That.

Is awesome.

DeliriousClam 08-21-2015 09:10 PM

I tested to see how much it'd take to get it to swing down. I ignored all instincts and hit potholes dead on. The bastard wouldn't fall down.

RonRizz 08-22-2015 02:05 AM

I like it... I'm considering this now.

axmea? 08-22-2015 02:20 AM

Good idea.

P's_Z 08-22-2015 06:41 AM

Awesome!

You have been repped sir

JC-Nismo 08-22-2015 11:07 AM

I did this awhile ago, but never posted it because it was mainly for my son because he wants to watch his YouTube videos as we travel, but I want my Ipad/Dash Command going and my music playing as well so he has his own little thing going with this tablet.

That is very cool but it would not be ideal for someone tall. I hate having the visor down as it blocks visibility for me, I would rather it be something offset from where I was viewing, either to the right or left.

Very cool, nonetheless!

Hah yeah doesn't bother me much since I'm pretty short. I'm like 5'4"-5'5"

KamiSpeed 08-24-2015 05:28 PM

Wow, what a simple yet awesome idea!! Love it.

I was thinking the same thing perhaps putting it in the passenger side visor not too sure about visibility on that though

Ask JC-Nismo about that. He can probably give you an answer

RonRizz 08-24-2015 06:52 PM

yeah, I just scrolled back and saw that post.....How 'bout it, JC-Nismo? how does it look from the drivers seat?

JC-Nismo 08-24-2015 11:17 PM

It looks pretty cool, but it's mainly for my son, I have an Ipad and my Kenwood HU for whatever I want to watch. Don't think i would wanna be looking that far over while in travel, but when parked its ok to view from behind the wheel.

Davectr 08-26-2015 11:23 PM

How did you install it so that it doesn't fall out? What do you use to keep it in place?

Strongest glue I could get my hands on

Davectr 08-27-2015 12:09 PM

Oh ok, ha ha. I kind of assumed it would be removable :)

Nah it's staying there. I got it for $50 and don't have a need for a tablet for anything other than this. Could probably make it removable though using the same basic idea but throwing a POS snap in case into the mix.
