CNET Editors’ Choice Oct 2009 for Car Audio Receivers.

The Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT stands above the competition.

Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT Car GPS (Navigation) reviews - CNET Reviews

That looks like a great unit. I saw some good reviews on this as well. Probably can't go wrong with that deck

kenchan 10-26-2009 02:56 PM

i didnt read the article, but does this unit load up quickly during bootup? ive read many complaints over at crutchfield that some(?) of pioneer nav units take forever to load.

theDreamer 10-26-2009 02:58 PM

That issue was suppose to be resolved with a firmware update (2.0 I believe) this past summer, I have heard people saying the load times decreased greatly.

I upgraded to firmware version 3.0 and noticed a considerable quicker load time.

theDreamer 10-26-2009 03:44 PM

It may have been 3.0, I just remember reading it and a few friends commented to me how they are enjoying faster load times. It put a nice plus next to Pioneer when it came to upgrading my stock radio.

kenchan 10-26-2009 03:48 PM

that's cool. thanks for the info.

the bootup was only with the f units, The pioneer z series has been the pinnacle of indash untis for a few years now.

Correct……….I installed the Avic F series in my Z with the 3.0 firmware upgrade.
One of Pioneer Head Unit attributes is that it can be easily bypassed to view video and adjust settings while in motion with either a Software or Hardware bypass. Thank you Bill Gates!
My next toy will have the Z series or whatever the next Pioneer pinnacle is.

Sorry not to be a douche but pioneer is still junk from what I have seen. You may all have good luck with them but something will brake sooner or later. That is why I never will go with them again to many units with problems. CNET might rate them good but when you actually use them and see what brakes you get a different view about them. But if you have good luck with them that that is good. But when you use them for 5 years each year a different problem and a different unit... na I will stick with alpine and kenwood.

You’re only being a douche to Microsoft Windows and Tele Atlas. If you have issues with the Pioneer LCD screens w/LED backlighting…………….then maybe you should seek medical attention.
I have a new Kenwood in my Explorer and it’s a great product.
Alpine……………owned them in the past and never going back! Too many reasons to type…………

big- my pioneer on my 370Z is working fine. :p i dont think it's junk at all. it's great for wat it is and i'll be buying another pioneer in the future. :)

maybe in your case, the amature installer broke it by handling/wiring it wrong? ;) :p

Sigur 10-27-2009 11:15 AM

Going on 5 years with my avic d1 which was like the first double din with nab that they made and no problems yet.

bigaudiofanat 10-27-2009 11:38 AM

LOl as I said some people have luck with them as far as me and the people I install for 1 in 4 brake the others are still working fine. Not installer error LOL
