Center channel in cubby ?

Has anyone tried putting a small center channel in the cubby area? I did a search and nothing came up . Im just looking for a way to improve imaging .I currently have a pair of DLS seperates fed by a Harmon Kardon TC300 and Im also using the stock tweeters crossed at about 12k. It just seems to have too much bias to the sides .
My previous car had a center channel so its possible Im just used to that type of setup .

processor??? time alignment would solve your imaging issues....

What would you recommend . Im used to the old school installs .

I had pondered doing this since my HU has 5.1, but weenied out on the attempt.

This was a small issue in my install, the factory placement of the tweets are poorly located..and the tweets are "tuned" to carry a small amount of mid range. The head installer suggested mounting the tweets in doors in the typical spot near the windows but angle them in such a way the the music sounds like it coming from the dash...he also angled my mid bass with the spacers used to mount to the door. I have the Pioneer 8100 and there is settings for everyday of the week including time alignment and listener position...to speaker level output manipulation ...with proper tuning I can tell you that I don't need a center channel...no one really records in 5.1 anyway unless you buy it specifically... DVD audio was supposed to be the real deal and fizzeled away fast...as it was to expensive for most...and downloading music kinda squashed it years ago...with this compressed crap...I can hear a huge difference in mp3 vs. a traditional cd...
Imaging is everything in car audio.. make sure to do a little sound deadening this helps as well..Doors, hatch area , wheel wells (rear), makes a difference.

Unfortunatly that head unit is way more than I want to spend . I want to get an exhaust soon and a tune .
Im not really looking for 5.1 I just want to bring the sound stage a little more to the center ,
I stopped at a pawn sop and found a JL audio 300/2 and a 500/1 and Im thinking of picking them up tom. I may even use my Calisto crossover and wire the tweeters to a third amp (ADS PQ10 ).

Amazon.com : Soundstream Harmony 31-Band DSP w/ 8-ch Output, X-over, & Time Align : Car Electronics PPI makes one as well. Exact same unit, the PPI version is slightly cheaper... around $230.00.
No need for center with processing.

Very nice Ron thanks . I had no idea that existed as I said earlier Im used to the old school installs . Things have changed !
A question if you dont mind .
Im currently using a harmon kardon tc300 for mid/high and a MTX for the 10 in sub . As I stated above I found a couple of nice JLaudio amps . Do you think its worth upgrading the amps or should I save my money ?

I also have a JBL GTS600 that Id like to use for the sub but I cant find anywhere to put it .

Just read up on the Soundstream . Very impressive

That harmon is old school for sure... I'd keep it, get your processor in, and THEN decide if its time to "upgrade". You might find that the Harmon is more than adequate, and a processor will wake it up for sure....
