Anybody running fronts/rears off headunit power with sub?

Is anybody running fronts/rears off the headunit's power and adding one amp and a sub? Is it enough power to the fronts/rears?

I'm not looking for the loudest stereo in the world, but it would be simpler and cheaper to do this compared to getting a second amp. I'm thinking anything would be better than the stock (base) stereo.

After a lot of people read and all about rears and how they are not needed and it sounds better without them they go without rears. That is my advice to you is to invest more money on your fronts and do not worry about the small rears. Just my .02

I have a kenwood double din powering pioneer 6.5 in the doors and the two factory tweeters and a 10" powered subwoofer. Everything works fine.

Well that is great but the question was about rear speakers. Not to be a jerk. :tiphat:

The OP asks about running speakers/sub off of the headunit, including rears.

He was just saying that he's running everything the OP asks about, excluding the rears, just fine off of the HU w/ no amp.

I doubt the base headunit has enough power to make anything sound decent with an amplified sub. And since you'll be getting an amp for the sub you should just get a 4channel amp, a pair of front components and sub. Bridge the rear channel for the sub you'll be good.

On some amps you can bridge the rear channel not all can do that. Anyway I agree you speakers will sound better with a external amp.

I've installed a few systems like this with no issues. The cars with the stock rear speakers I do recommend that you add a bass blocker or buy a radio with a x-over in order to keep the lower bass frequencies out of these speakers since they are too small to handle them.
