Installing Speakers On Base Model, HELP!
Hello Everyone, this is my first time posting a thread, but I am very lost with this issue:confused:. First to start off, I have a 2009 370z Base and I would like to add 3.5" rear speakers in the speaker location behind the seats. I would also like to add a subwoofer behind the driver seat (but not in the trunk space) and I do not know what size I should get nor what amp I would need for it. HELP! I would normally go to a audio expert and have them do it, but I would hate to get ripped off!
Thanks! |
I would recommend starting with the Bose install sticky located in the Audio forums. There should be a lot of information there that will answer a majority of these questions.
My personal recommendation is to get a good solid front stage, and forget doing rear speakers. There just isn't enough cabin space, and they sit too close to the back of the seats. You will also never get good quality for the money you spend on 3.5 inch drivers. As far as sub, you have a lot of options, so it comes down to your personal music preferences as to whether a configuration like 2x 8", a single 10, or a single 12 would be better suited for the task. |
Just based on your questions ... I would first establish a budget on how much you want to spend.. and then look at what your trying to achieve. Some people flat out go for LOUD..some like sound quality (me) , some just throw a system together. Remember you get what you pay for down to the type of wires your running. For affordability, some may do it in phases...or even buy stuff a piece at a time. Second...if I were you , HAVE IT DONE PROFESSIONALLY.. It doesn't sound like you have experience and based on my install I just did, I couldn't have done it myself...YOU WILL GET STUCK.
I did sound deadening in the doors and back cargo area..and in the pillars...I spent about $350.00 with labor to do. Dynomat is not cheap...be warned. Choose your head unit first and build around it...that will also help establish how much your going to end up spending for your entire system...Would you buy a $1,500 Pioneer HU and spend $169.00 on a pair of speakers and $200 on a cheap amp ? I set a budget of $5,000 and ended up at $4300.00 with careful shopping of my pieces.. I did buy stuff from installing dealer.. you don't want to walk in with ALL your own stuff and hand it to them and ask them to put it in your car...they may do it but they won't be pumped about it and you will PAY more for bringing your own stuff. Its kind of like going to a restaurant and bringing your own steak and asking them to cook it...So yes there were some items I could have gotten a little cheaper but guess what...If I need something they won't hesitate to take care of it. I have spectacular system that was done right and I couldn't be happier.. I went with the Pioneer 8100...it was the first thing I bought for $859.00 it retails for 1,499. Keep us posted on your journey ! Good luck with your decisions.. |
and so the journey begins...............

1- Set Budget
2- decide what kind of sound you want (go to a few shops and listen to a everything you can) 3- decide on how clean of the install or aesthetics you want 4- research on the speaker/components online 5- decide if you wan to install yourself or pay to have it installed - if your paying, get ready to walk in to shops and ask them questions. You want to "test" them on what they know or even ask to see some of there work. This helps in deciding which shop you trust your $ and car with. 6- Pay after the job is done or agree to only pay 1/2 fist then the rest when completed. 7- inspect the work and make sure everything works, check out to see if there were any damages ect. then Pay the final bill when happy.
