Difficult to make recommendations without knowing budget...there are so many....

I would like to spend around 150 or so but could spend more ,up to 250 ,if the sound quality difference is noticeable .

No worries...I ended up getting a Alpine MRV-F300 4-Channel digital. I have had much time in the care because I have been traveling and the car ended up in the body shop as a result of a jack rabbit committing suicide by running into my front bumper on my way home from Las Vegas after the speaker and amp install. What I can say is as they are breaking in they keep sounding better especially as you turn the volume up. They are very clear and clean. I am very satisfied with them.

I just installed these yesterday. Was able to do so without the spacer. Just did some nice homemade mods and they fit perfectly. They sound amazing over stock. Much clearer and crisper sound. My question now is, these lanzar speakers lost a LOT of bass over the stock door speakers. I have the base audio (4speakers) and base headunit. How strong of an amp would I need and what kind to run a small 8" sub, 2 lanzar speakers, and possibly the tweeters if I get some nice aftermarket ones to replace the stocks? I'm a noob when it comes to audio.

Are they well sealed under the speaker mounting ring? air leaks will destroy a speakers bass response, even the slightest ones. I always use weatherstripping under speakers.

It seems like they are. I'll play around with them again tomorrow. Do you or anyone else for that matter have any pics of them installed? Did you run into issues with the back of the speaker hitting the black window slide behind it?

No you don't need a 4 channel amp you need a set of components instead of just replacing the woofer. The set comes with a crossover that you can feed 1 channel per set from an amp. So you realy only need a 2 channel amp. I like to upgrade all the speakers instead of just the woofer this way things stay balanced otherwise they can get one sided with mid bass or highs.

Theyre 6.5 so they should fit

I have heard, and used the tweeters in the past, but I have not heard the woofers.... Sorry I can't help.

Well, today is gonna be that day....rolling out to a show right now. Let's see what the professional ears say......

Did very well with them, as I expected.
Low midrange got 8.5 out of 10
Midrange got 8.5 out of 10
Realism got 4.25 out of 5
All top notch scores on $80 speakers to get a 9 out of 10
You need to be truly exceptional.

Just ordered some of these and will be installing this weekend hopefully

joma000 08-31-2015 03:28 PM

Any updates from members that have installed these mids?

I have a deh-80prs and plan on running my mids and highs active, so no need for a component set with crossovers.

Just wanna see what you guys think of the lanzars after having them for some time. Also how much rms you are running to them?

I am only running 50W RMS to mine but they sound really good. A very big improvement over stock for a small price tag.

Liquid_G 09-03-2015 10:30 AM

I got them earlier in the year based on RonRizz's recommendation.. They are amazing and for the price it doesn't get much better.

DeliriousClam 09-07-2015 06:33 PM

Gonna order these and try them out since I blew out my type-R's

RyanR 09-09-2015 01:30 AM

Just ordered a set for my Nismo! Got mine off Jet.com for $64 shipped

Wakeskater02 11-28-2015 05:50 PM

I want to get your opinion......I was thinking about a component set of Polk Db6501s....do you think I should go component set or these and some aftermarket tweets for around $100 or so? I have a smaller two channel amp and may have a 4 channel for a small drop-in 10" sub and small box that I would just set in the car with quick disconnects?

I am still researching what I want to do.....I love music and the Z is so loud it would be nice to crank the stereo without worrying about distortion etc....

If you are going to take the time to do all the other upgrades, I would opt for the components over just the woofers.

YzGyz 11-28-2015 08:11 PM

Get yourself a nice set of components and amp them. If they are good speakers and decent amp, they will sound nice and have plenty of bass, mids and highs. You don't get better shound by masking suck sound with more loud noises. You get good sound by playing good sound.

Wakeskater02 11-28-2015 08:20 PM

anyone interested in replacing door speakers but....

Any comments on the Polk DB 6501s as a component set? I have seen on here a few others use them with what seems like good results?

Until I save a little more money I am thinking about just upgrading the components myself....

However, thinking about it a little more it sounds as though I will need to switch all the wiring as I will be running crossovers with whatever component setup I run. I assume this will require a new harness etc....I was thinking about as someone said.....buying everything I want/need and having a local shop install it....I have done that to a certain degree before with my civic with good success.

I am looking for a nice double din touch head unit.....no navigation...

Here is one I was thinking about....
Pioneer AVHX4600BT 7-Inch USB Bluetooth Hi-Volt Pandora DVD Player https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GN5K63M..._yiMwwbYBTYTBF

Any thoughts?

A harness to connect the new head unit to the OEM harness is a good idea. They are cheap and makes installation easier. They also give a diagram for you to follow so you know which wire is the "remote" wire. As for new speaker wire, buy a roll of 12g or even 14 g wire. They will all be coming from. The amp and routed to the door speaker. The romex opens with a simple flip of the locking mechanism. You have to close the door a little to get the locking mechanism to open all the way. Use a sharp utility knife to cut the pin board for space to run the wire through.

And God knows, nobody wants "suck sound". Lol

Okay. I bought both speakers and spacers. I was planning to do this myself thinking its plug and play. Took door panels out and I think it is going to be more involved. First, the spacer is a bit tight, maybe I need to make the inner diameter a little bigger so it will fit snugly in the speaker. I also think I need to do more modification so I can secure the new speaker in the OEM mount.

Anyone has pictures of their install of this speakers? Any help or guide would really be appreciated.

markesc 08-07-2017 01:05 AM

Pulled the trigger on these!

and spacers can be found here:

https://www.zenclosures.com/Nissan-I...infinitisp.htm

*** make sure to note 370z when ordering ***

Questions:

Do I need any extra clips for the speaker terminals or can I use whatever the factory provided?

Dynamat: good idea/bad idea, and if so, how much/what kind for just the doors?

Do I need anything like foam parts, stuff like this:

https://www.cartoys.com/fast-rings-6...nhancement-kit

Are there any stupid fragile nissan factory clips that I'll need special tools for to avoid breaking?

Not an updated version, just a different model entirely. I can't say better or not, I have no experience with them.

markesc 10-13-2017 11:42 AM

Just pulled the trigger on these!

and those Memphis audio 2.75" for the dash.

We'll see how good/bad this is with the STOCK headunit! This is the first time I've actually attempted not doing a separate amp just because I'm curious what cheap speakers with a lot of sound deadening can do first.

If you think this car has road noise, go drive an 02-07 wrx with an exhaust = tin can on wheels!

No idea, but they are not the same; These are a genuine co-axial, whereas the OP are simply midrange woofers. Could be better/worse if you have tweets in the doors AND the dash at the same time, I've heard arguments that messes up the soundstage, but I could be wrong and I've been out of this game for a long time!

markesc 10-21-2017 12:19 AM

After trying out the lanzars, I will say: if you don't have an amp, don't bother. Actually sounded worse than stock sadly. They look cool though! I may just have a bad head unit as it's always crackled in the right channel from new...

I'll go for a full set of Hertz and a nice JL audio 3 channel at this point... after I can tackle this seemingly impossible road noise issue. I'm still lost on how people on here just "live with" the road noise... maybe I'm getting old, but I just have higher expectations at this point. Just playing music louder isn't an option anymore.

Why even bother with a sound system when you actually need to move on and replace your car to let someone else enjoy the Z. Buy a Lexus or a battery operated car.

I love the car they can bury me in it! I just want a bit less road noise during those 2+ hour long trips where I often hit some bad sections of pavement. I'd rather hear the exhaust / music than the road noise drone!!

That's why you should have upgraded the head unit first. When I replaced my stock head unit with the Pioneer, it made the stock speakers sound a hell of a lot better. It would also make those new speakers of yours sound a lot better.
