THE370Z back online + downtime + new feature(s) (AK370Z)
 

First I'd like to thank all the forum members for your patience and support. I have put you guys through a lot last few days. First couple days, you were not able to click on links at all and then followed by a 12 hour downtime. I'm sorry :(. But I'd glad that it's all up and running now. Though we are not 100% done (there are still work to be done) but I feel that I can work in the background as the forum is running. :tup:

I'm trying out a new "like" feature for a little bit which I'm sure you've already seen. I wanna see how it goes. My number 1 goal from this like feature is to "encourage" more positive posts throughout the forum. In the past, where positive, good or helpful posts got a silent "rep point with a text", now I kinda want to bring that out in public and show a little bit of "pat on the back" kind of recognition system. The "Likes" system allows users to effortlessly provide feedback to one another on the content they find most useful. So, if you see a good post or see a member posting a helpful reply for another member or just a great post (on topic of course), feel free to "LIKE" that post. It encourages the poster and creates a positive environment throughout the forum. You are more than welcome to drop a few lines and still leave a rep point if you like.

All these "likes" in a thread creates something very cool called "Like's Tree". What's the benefit of "Like's tree"? It gives you an instant "birds-eye-view" of the "Likes" distribution in a thread, allowing you to *quickly* identify the most useful/important content, no matter how long the conversation is. Yup, that's right! Ever walked into a 20 page thread looking for important info? well now you can (assuming the LIKE system is used properly). You can simply click on the Like's tree and click through the important posts rather than scrolling through hundreds of posts. This Like tree will allow people to extract more value out of forums in much less time.

However I should also warn you guys that please do not abuse the "LIKE" system. I think it's a great encouragement system for people to post more and more positive stuff and get public recognition for that post. We had plenty of other features in the past on this forum which I was forced to turn off due to abuse. So, please be mature and use the "LIKES" accordingly. It's a system that will make your browsing much easier in post heavy threads and also encourage positive posting throughout the forum. I also want to try out another feature which is not activated yet. I'll keep you guys posted when I do :tup:

Wow...this is a very interesting new feature! I think overtime it will definitely make it easier to look for the most important info in a thread.

Not so sure about the heart icon now that I think about it.

Glad you got this forum back online - though I bet Google penalized the site heavily for all of the 404 errors. Now I can look up how to do my first 370Z oil change with your tutorial before my autocross on Sunday :)
