Track update.

Just did a 2-day track event at Calabogie Motorsports Park which is a beautiful new track an hour outside of Ottawa. On this track you are full throttle a lot even through many of the turns.

On day 1 my peak temp was about 240F but I was taking it easy while I still learnt the track, on day 2 when I really beat hard on the car the temp climbed to 260 with 90F ambient, and in one session when I was really spanking it hard I did touch on 270. But all in all the cooler did its job well even if they were a tad higher than I was expecting. I'm pretty sure if I had anything else in the car limp mode would have been a certainty.

They are still including the useless 1 ft section of PS hose. I didn't measure but it is at least 6 to 8 inches short of the required length. Fortunately because I was replacing the stock cooler with the Stillen PS cooler they supply a 3 ft section of hose as well, so I was able to chop it to length to complete the install without a trip to the store.

How did you fit the Stillen power steering cooler in combination with the AE oil cooler? My understanding is the AE core runs laterally and requires moving the power steering cooler up to the vertical bar that runs across the center of the radiator. Are you running the Stillen unit vertically as well? Pictures?

Yes I fitted the Stillen unit vertically. Technically you could sandwich the Stillen PS cooler behind the oil cooler, there is room. I will post up a pick as soon as I locate it.

Getting ready to install this mod...

...any thoughts after over a year of running the cooler for more than a year? Does anyone have the detailed instructions? Corner3 is doing the install and I bet it would help. If so please send my way. Thanks to SS_Firehawk for giving it up. Hope this keeps the temps cool this summer. :tiphat::tiphat::hello::hello:

Wavehogger at the top of page 3 has a lot of good info and a link to install pics that I'm sure will help. I was looking for it earlier for you actually :tiphat:

Cool. Thanks for the lead and help! I also read somewhere that ae started sending detailed instructions at one point, so I emailed them asking for those. I'm gathering all of this info for Nima and the guys to make it easy. BTW, would you do anything different with the install than you did? Happy 4th!

I wasn't the installer, but it worked flawlessly. When first installed, I needed a new gasket for the sandwich plate and a crush washer. The shop had everything fixed before they gave to me and it never leaked a drop afterwards.

Great. Which shop? So it never ran too cold / took to long to get to temp? Also, I've got a Nismo, so they'll have some fun with that too.

There are a few options on how you install this. I've had mine for nearly 4 years now and made a few changes.

The original install location is fine but will likely interfere with the chassis damper on the Nismo. I ended up moving my oil cooler to be sandwiched between the radiator condenser and the center support backed with foam tape. There is plenty of room to run the lines near the power steering.

I also found that the original sandwich plate was too restrictive so I swapped it out for one with better flow and switched to -10 AN lines. Completely unnecessary of course unless you are flogging the car hard on the track with race tires.

Thanks for the info. With -8 AN lines, the car warmed up just fine, when it got chilly it def took longer. Once warmed up, it was fine.
