I've had the problem. But like others said its been recalled.

My SLU failed in March of 2012. I had it replaced with a Rev D and also installed the wiring harness bypass.

I just got the recall notice but i had cut the brown wire under the steering column..

Can i still take it in?

We haven't had any issues. We received our recall notice yesterday and plan to take the Z in next week for the warranty work before we sell her.

I removed my fuse after my girlfriends Z had a steering lock failure. Since then we both have received our recall notices. Anyone know how to put the fuse back? I assume you put it in ACC mode, pop the fuse back in then turn the car off and on? Just like I removed the fuse??

just put the fuse back in with the battery disconnected and just hope when you go to restart it the steering lock doesn't F*'up between then and taking it to the dealership...

I just hit mine with a hammer and havnt had any issues since!

I started the harness idea, so I obviously have a bypass harness :tup:

Should note, I have no other affiliation with this^ company ^other then being a customer.

Other "fix it" options for steering lock issues are to either

A - Pull the fuse

B - Cut a wire......

I hope no one on here gets stranded. I hate those threads :shakes head: if you own one of the affected Z's, pre-steering lock removal, just do one of the fixes asap before it happens to you........

Check your build date. The later ones already have the Rev D.
