Electrical issues?

Hi, I am shopping for either a 2012 or a 2010 anniversary Z. When I pull up carfax on the Vin's for the 2010's 9 times out of ten there are electrical service work orders or battery charging service done. What gives? Also, I am concerned that there were only 1000 made but I see several a week for sale. Love the 2010 anniversary but want to avoid a electrical system nightmare. Cars I'm considering are under 10k miles.

All of the 40th Anniversary models are from the model year 2010. I am not aware of any unusual electrical issues.

This could be from a variety issues. One being that they are such low mileage means they are rarely ever driven meaning the battery would not have the charging done frequently enough to keep the system topped up. Same reason why we disconnect the battery when we are storing our cars for 5-6 months of time.

:iagree: with onzedge though I am no aware of any electrical issues with any of the z34's let alone 2010's.

IMO if you find one that's a good deal, jump on it!

Maybe battery replacements or steering lock failure? Only electrical components that might regularly have failed on a 2010.

All of these guys have brought up good points. I just want to say that if you have the opportunity to go with a 40th, DO IT! You will not be disappointed as the design of it makes it stand out like no other. I'm married and I get hit on like crazy (drives the wife nuts but oh well).

If you have a question about the integrity of a specific Z just post a link to it on here. I'm sure there's enough of us to take a look at it and tell you whether it's a good buy or not. Good luck!

I think most people here will tell you anything taken to the dealer for electrical work was actually around the steering lock issue - which is a legitimate issue, and is covered in several places on the forum, including easy fixes.

However, I have had two batteries die on me, one of them within 3 months, and I've only had the car for a year. So either I magically turned into an ignorant car owner who leaves dome lights on all the time, or something's up with the early builds.

Oh also, early cars could've gone in for the audible tone emanating from the ECU, which is also documented here as a notably difficult thing to get fixed under warranty.
