40th owners, I need advise.

I am going for Shine Auto Project Spec-S body kit for my 40th. I'm not sure which CF will look better, plain weave or the twill weave?

I don't have any pics, so if anyone has pics of either on a 40th would be appreciated.

djpathfinder 02-27-2011 01:55 AM

Nitrouz has some CF on his 40th...here's his build thread with pictures (fast forward to page 8):

I saw Nitrouz 40th with CF, his kit is Sunline tho, so the Shine Auto version might look different. And when I asked Nitrouz what kind of CF he has, he said plain, but it looked like twill weave to me.

djpathfinder 02-27-2011 10:18 AM

There must be some pics of the Shine Auto kit in both versions somewhere. Honestly I didn't realized there were different weave patterns in CF.

I just googled their website and found some pics of their products on a 370z and other cars. There are some descriptions too.

Looks like the red Venaci 370z has their kit. Look up VIP Status on this forum and Youtube. They have tons of pics and video of their car for you to compare.

Twill will give it more dept and is usually considered more aesthetically pleasing...
So I would go for twill

metz 02-27-2011 12:25 PM

The kit he posted was ordered from Rick at VIP, which is the aerojacket kit. I think it's actually coming from shine but who knows. I've had the kit on order from him since Nov and haven't gotten it yet. After seeing Nitrous post that his was plain I'm trying to get Rick to make sure it's twill. I have other twill CF on my car, including the wheels so I want it to match.

Nitrouz 02-27-2011 12:48 PM

I like plain CF on the big parts like bodykits. I like twill on the small interior accents. Twill gives it more accent. But plain is more JDM. Most of the JDM companies real cf (Top Secret, sunline, etc) uses plain 1x1 weave. Most of the fake cf uses twill.

Yes sir. 2 kinds of weave for CF. And as per Nitrouz post, the plain weave does look sick on his 40th.

Thanks Xan! I'm actually going to put to consideration how many like plain vs twill.

Hmm... The thing is, I'm afraid that if I order Twill, it might look ricey bcoz Nitrouz' setup already looks sick. I have no plans of painting the kit that's why I want CF that will perfectly blend with the 40th color code.

You're setup is sick man. So its plain huh? I may have to go to that route then... Unless someone has a twill weave on their 40th, that would be interesting how the outcome will be / is.

Sir, big favor from a stranger! :icon17:
Can you get a snap shot of that rear add-on both on close, mid-close and far? I would greatly appreciate it sir! :driving:

Nitrouz 02-27-2011 02:51 PM

twill won't really look too ricey...as many people have it. C-West Japan for example, uses twill in their CF. I had that on my black 350z before, and looked great. Twill looks more pronounced as CF. I like both, just for different applications on the car...

Thanks for the compliments man!

Well, I really like the look on yours if that's how plain CF will look like. With that said, I wish someone would post a photo of twill CF on a 40th. Hey Nitrouz, you have a twill diffuser right? Mind if you take a few shots on day time, both close, and mid-close??? :icon17:

Nitrouz 02-27-2011 03:51 PM

twill...

karotZ 02-27-2011 03:58 PM

[QUOTE=Nitrouz;960921]twill...

Sorry, I meant photo of twill CF attached to your 40th. My bad sir!

EDIT: Photo removed. :icon17:

Nitrouz 02-27-2011 03:58 PM

they're actually not that much different side by side. I actually love the fact that my diffuser is twill and rest of the bodykit is plain. It "darkens" the diffuser section yet still remain CF. Gives it the true diffuser look.

just found this pic I took before the kit went on...twill on the 40th...

Xan 02-27-2011 04:10 PM

Ok, I might reconsider my opinion on on twill on these pieces with all the curves.
It's not as smooth as I thought it would look on the fangs...

Nitrouz 02-27-2011 04:15 PM

but it gives a slight "darker" look. I love it on the fangs and rear diffuser, surrounded by plain weave CF. That's why I like plain on the large pieces.

metz 02-27-2011 04:23 PM

Yeah I agree with Nitrouz. The twill is going to look darker. The sub box I built is done in twill and I'm going to mix a few plain accents in with it here and there. I have twill covered wheels and door handle covers. They don't seem as dark as I thought it would.

I tried studying your pictures to understand what you mean, I think I can see it a little bit, but the pictures are a little dark.

I'm looking for one piece add ons and after seeing your pics I think I'm liking the plain pieces better. Good thing I waited (as I didn't know which kit to get yet and was waiting for more options) but I would have ordered twill for sure...

Totally agree with Xan! This is exactly what happened to me. I was on the verge on ordering twill on Shine Auto Project, then this whole thing kicked onto my head. Nitrouz, you've been extremely helpful sir! +1 rep to you for being tremendously helpful.:happydance: :happydance:

Nitrouz 02-27-2011 11:27 PM

Thanks karotZ!

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.

Same pic distance of your fangs except a photo of the front lip sir. Nothing glamorous needed. :tiphat:

Nitrouz 02-28-2011 02:16 PM

^I have some at home I'll post when I get home from work later.

karotZ 02-28-2011 06:45 PM

^ No rush. I think I've already decided to go plain weave on the Spec-S body kit .... as soon as Shine Auto Project picks up their phone that is... :shakes head:

docaam 03-02-2011 12:27 AM

I did install Shineauto's twill pattern lip was very nice, but then my car is red. I cant access photobucket from work but its there in my journal, good thing was all CF matched fangs from EVO-R and lip from shine.

LMBmikeZ 03-02-2011 04:51 AM

Nice Z!

Your car is popular docaam! In my situation, I have the 40th and have no plan on painting the kit. With that said, I wanted a close up view of Nitrouz' kit seeing the plain weave pattern blend with the 40th paint. Now I have a clue what twill pattern will look, just need to see the plain.

Nitrouz 03-02-2011 12:19 PM

sorry the car is filthy right now and it's pouring rain outside...I can't get a good shot of the car. I'll post next time I get the car cleaned up...

Its all good. Clean or dirty, its still a beautiful Z at the end of the day. Just wanna see how the plain weave blends with the 40th paint scheme.

The Sunline is made with twill carbon.

I mean the sunline racing is made in twill, the other versions you can get made in whatever material you want.
