I just put on the winter Blizzacks. Now I know how much I appreciate the 40th Rays rims. Can't wait until spring to return the Z to "the look".

Post your before and after PICs. Let's see what you're wearing this winter.

oh hell no! I used my '07 Z in the winter for 3 years. It was great with the snow treads but I am not subjecting the 40th to that torture. I just picked up a dodge 4x4. new england will kill a car in the winter.
drive safe my friends.

Here's RoZY... She keeps off the road in really bad weather, but up here, we need the winter tires when the pavement gets too cold for the summer tires. She only goes out on cold, clear days with mostly clear roads. No snow days!

A pic from last spring with the winter shoes still on. I have spacers now so the offset is not so bad!

And a shot from the summer of course!

I've heard the summer tires can get slick in the cold weather. I just got the car so I haven't driven in the snow yet, but will very soon. Doesn't anyone else drive their car in the winter? Show your shoes.

Dunlop Graspic DS-3's are my winter tires on 18" Enkei EK2 Eurosports.

The summer tires turn to hockey pucks at anything near freezing and are dangerous. I switch to the winter gear as soon as we have our first cold spell (late august) and remove them at the first warm spell (early august).

i'm picking up my winters this week (dunlop wintersport m3's), and i'll probably install the wheels sunday night. i just went with stock 18's, seemed like a no brainer. how come you went with these instead?

:icon18:

how do you like the graspics. i wasn't sure what the difference between those and the wintersport M3's were. do you know? i ended up with the m3's though.

wheee! 12-01-2010 01:43 PM

The M3's are more for places that just get cold weather and very small amounts of snow/ice. Here in Canada we get a lot of ice on the roads (and snow, but RoZy won't pretend she's a snow plow...) so we can't use the M3's reliably. Too little siping to make the tires grip the road. The Graspics are awesome tires and I am very impressed with them....

225 55r18 I think? I will check. They were ordered by the dealer as part of the car deal. I paid $2400 taxes-in Cdn for the wheels tires and balancing install with Nitro Fill. Not bad.

with TPMS installed as well....

oh, what kind of wheels did you get?

255/55/18 doesn't sound right. thats a very big tire. i imagine you went with 225/50/18 (which is the front OEM 18" tire size). thats also the widest tire they seem to sell for the graspic ds-3

I think the reason i went with the M3's was more the sizing. i didn't want to run a 225 tire on the rear OEM 18's, so i just went with 245/45/18's all around. I'm paying 950 mounted and balanced onto the base 18's which i got through a trade for my rays (plus $700) from the buyer. so basically, i traded my rays, and a brand new set of winter tires winds up costing me 250 :)
