Completed So Far
So, as you guys know, I bought the 370z that was in an accident. So far to date, the car still drives amazingly (a lot of road noise that I attribute to the tires), and I have been working to line the body lines back up. I pulled the front bumper and everything looks good behind it (with the exception of the foam absorber being upside down lol). I replaced the bumper support bracket and the hood hinges and lined everything back up. Additionally, I have been going over the car with a fine toothed comb to ensure that everything is within stock specs. I added some clips and plastic rivets to reattach some of the weather stripping, but other than that things have looked good.
Other than that, I added a tow-hook mounted front license plate mount and have drained, flushed, and changed the rear diff fluid with some royal purple goodness. I also pulled the passenger-side fender and moved the passenger-side door up in-line with the rest of the body lines. I also just placed my order for the RJM clutch pedal :-) Hope things are going well for you guys and I will keep trolling the classifieds for an exhaust, intake, and engine/tranny/rear diff mounts. I've also been highly debating dropping the money on the Fuji body kit that is in the classifieds section ;-) |
Just Do it.

Do you have pics of the car before the wreck?
-Raj |
Before the wreck? No, but I have pictures of the car afterwards, but before it was repaired, and obviously I can take pics of it as it sits now. I didnt take pics before I started lining the body back up, but I'll post some of how she currently sits

Do you have any before the repair is what I meant, sorry. After the wreck happened

Today: I just washed and waxed her this morning. I think the Pillar finishers are sitting too high when referenced to the hood and fenders. What do you guys think?

From an angle it looks a little high in the last pic but from other pics it looks good. You maybe paranoid because you want it perfect looking when it may just be that but to you it may not be lol. Clean car man -Raj |
I think the last pic shows that it is definitely sitting a little high. Check the FSM and you should find gap tolerances that will give you an idea of just how close it is to the factory tolerance :tiphat:
|
the last pic, so passenger side, looks to be a little high.
but :iagree: with Raj clean car  |
Thanks guys! This is the cleanest i have ever kept a car lol.I will keep working the passenger side, but I may be paranoid like raj says. Thanks Jar! I downloaded the pdf earlier and will definitely have to see how off it is.

Looks good man. You'd never know. Is the title still clean?
|
Thanks firulice! Unfortunately, no. But I have no plans on selling this one, so resale value doesnt really affect me ;-) well unless some unforeseen event comes up... but I'd sell the Q7 before I sold this one lol

So, since I work 7 days a week for the majority of each month, we have a four day weekend every so often . Yesterday, I spent about five hours tearing the car apart. I took the driver side pillar finisher off and realigned it. Replaced the lock pillar (I had ordered a new one because I knew I would end up breaking the old one), and aligned the hood and fenders so that they were aligned in accordance with the service manual. Now that everything is aligned at the windshield and pillar finishers, things are still off where the bumper meets the hood. At first I thought that the hood alignment was to blame, but now I am thinking that the radiator core support is shifted towards the driver side. I ran out of time, since I had some errands to run, but will rip it apart this weekend and see if I can line everything up again. Its only off a 1/4 of an inch, but it is enough to annoy me.
On a side note I recieved my RJM clutch pedal. I'll try to install that this weekend as well. I have also started my wish list: AEM intake 24 row oil cooler HKS 3 inch exhaust (may pick up the one in the classifieds) Fuji front bumper (partial carbon) AMS sides and rear (partial carbon) hope everyone is doing well and thanks for reading! |
Good luck on your build!
-Raj |
Thanks Raj!
