370Z Oil Change
I called a Nissan dealer yesterday to schedule an oil change and was told Nissan was no longer requiring ester oil be used. I've been looking for the service bulletin stating this; have anyone been told the same thing or know of this service bulletin?
I haven't seen a bulletin, but after my first change, I was told the same thing. I've been using standard oil for the last couple of changes.
I'm guessing they were threatened with lawsuits after trying to force their snake oil on us. |
Nissan ONLY recommends their Nissan esther oil, they do not mandate it, never have.
Service mgr told me to only use their Nissan esther oil IF I hear the ticking noise from the engine. Nissan Esther Oil = Snake Oil |
yea, they can't mandate you use their ester oil, but i thought the car was supposed to be run on synthetic.
Nope.
I just switched over to redline. It contains ester oil in it and is supposed to add a lot of benefit. Lot's of guys on here have made the switch. if you decide to go that route wait until after break in.
when is the first oil change is suppose to be done????
3 months or 5000kms. I changed mine at 1800kms, with Nissan Ester Oil and then again at 6500kms with redline.
I did mine at 3k miles using Mobil1 silver cap. No issue wat so ever.
