Yup... All year DE motors had OC issue. None so far has been reported for the HR motors (07-08 Z and G sedans).

And I haven't really heard any OC issue on the 08+ G37s either... maybe it's a 370Z isolated issue? Does anyone have the full TSB document including the solution? I'd like to see what's all involved in resolving this issue.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I guess I am going to have to start seriously eyeballing my oil levels. This is not looking like it will be any fun at all. Looks like I may have to hold on to my S13 after all. I was planning on selling it and going all in on the Z. Guess it is always good to have a backup plan.:ugh2:

I think its about time I call my dealership

I don't think you should have changed to synthetic that early...

Fuuu.... my bad Shumbs...

I just thought since it was from The370Z, it was for 370Z... This problem could also relate to the new M37 then? Man... no wonder Nissan wants to stop building the VQ and move on to Mercedez motors...

Half way down dipstick = 12 mm
200 miles = NO GOOD

Again this is for the G37 TSB, but it's still not good and I would...

Definitely get it into the dealer and have them record on your service record that "Customer states that engine is consuming excessive amounts of oil' and request the dealer to start an oil consumption test. It's important that you have them record this ASAP on your service record. Call it a cya (cover your arse) for any future decisions from NNA (Nissan North America) to replace your engine.

Subscribed. I haven't had my oil changed yet but right now mine's at about 13mm with 3300 miles on the clock. Of course, I have no idea whether my car was filled completely to "H" at the factory but worst-case (13mm) I'm still within the safe zone. I've also only checked the oil two other times and the level doesn't appear to have changed. I'll definitely keep an eye on it once I get my oil changed at 3750 miles.

Don't cars tend to burn more oil during the break-in period? In other words, wouldn't consumption be at its worst when the car is brand new?

Are you an engine builder?

Switched to synthetic at a conservative 2000 miles on the Z, much like I switch to synthetic right at 1200 miles on all my built turbo engines... hasn't burnt a DROP since switching.

It's safe to run the VHR on synthetic out of the box, if and only if you break it in aggressively. Mobil 1 comes as factory fill on many cars - Corvette, Evo's, Mercedes AMG (I believe)...

Was down 3/4 of a qrt. 600 miles after an oil change. That is the most I have lost in the 16k miles I have had the car so far. If that keeps up that would be about 2 qrts. every oil change (3k miles) which doesn't sound good to me. No track time in that 600 miles either. Before the 15k miles mark I was adding about 1 qrt. between every oil change.

Those of you with OC issues; did you baby the motor for break in?

From mile 26 - 500, I did not exceed 4k rpm, and I did a lot of engine breaking and changing rpm a lot (heard engine breaking helps seal the piston rings). From mile 501 -16??? (now) been flooring it to 7500 rpm every time I drive it. Test drove it from the dealership from mile 20-26, and floored it a lot then...hopefully that didn't do anything...or anyone who drove it before the 20 mile mark.

The way you broke it in is perfect, especially since you floored it when you were test driving it.

Sounds like you have a leak or your engine is just a dud.
