Nissan recalls 540,000 vehicles

Nissan says it will recall nearly 540,000 vehicles worldwide, most of them in the United States, due to brake pedal defects and faulty fuel gauges.

Nissan said in a statement it plans "to inspect and, if necessary, repair brake pedal pins and fuel-gauge components on certain trucks and minivans".

"No accidents or injuries have been reported with these issues," it said.

The recalls also affect Canada, Mexico, the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia and Taiwan, the statement said.

The models with faulty brake pedal pins are the Titan pickup trucks, the Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs and Quest minivans built between 2008 and 2010, the company said, adding that it would pull 178,916 units from the US.

The company said there were three reported cases of brake pedal pins loosening and causing problems with braking.

"Nissan has determined that a manufacturing error on the part of the supplier is at the root of this issue," it said.

with what is happening to Toyota all companies are going to be doing recalls waaaaaay more than before so they wont suffer the same bad rep, which is good for us and the way it should be.

true story

^ also, now is the perfect timing for them to annouce a recall because it'll seem like no big deal compared to Toyota. GM just annouced one too.

Nissan will recall 540,000 vehicles

"Late today, Nissan Motor (NSANY), Japan's third-biggest car maker, said it will recall about 540,000 vehicles worldwide due to potential defects in brake pedal pins and fuel-gauge components, mostly in the United States. Nissan said five models from 2008 to 2010, including the Titan truck and Armada SUV, would be recalled due to the risk of the brake pedal pins partially disengaging, causing a loss of normal braking ability."

"As reported from HuffingtonPost, affected models include the Nissan Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56 built from 2005 to 2008, along with the Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra built between January and March 2006 and between October 2007 and January 2008."
Looks like the Z, and every other passenger car, is safe.

Funny how the government gets their hands on GM, and these import companies are going to crap. i kid i kid

wheee! 03-04-2010 08:00 AM

wow. How soon the world forgets the "exploding Pinto" or the "flying Monza". How about the pickups manufactured by the big three with "saddle tanks" that exploded on side impact...
These vehicles were never even recalled! But they were all American too...
But heaven forbid a successful Japanese car manufacturer has a defect.... :icon14:
