haha umm i dont have many details really i havent even talked to a recruiter yet but i plan to within the next 2 weeks. I would like to be stationed somewhere nice or even somewhere overseas like germany or something. but i want to sell the car now and get a few other bills out of the way so i can go in an have pretty much no bills. But any information you might have for me would be greatly appreciated.

1. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. Otherwise you'll go in Open General which could put you in any shitty career field that needs a body.

2. Look where what you wanna do could get you stationed. Know that before you pick your job, otherwise you end up like me and can only go to like 8 bases....

3. Germany is a wonderful place to visit, but being an American living there... Alot of things just sucked lol. You can forget anything bein open after 7, there are no Wal-Marts, Alcohol, cigarettes, and coffe is rationed (on base). Or you can go off base and pay 3x as much as its work. A 5 dollar happy meal costs 8 Euro = 12 Dollars...

When you get to basic, don't forget your reporting statement, never forget your weapon, literally don't speak unless your spoken to (keeps you from being one of the ones they remember). When it comes time for them to hand out your additional duties, you wait for Laundry Crew. True you have to wash everyone elses ****, but it gets you out of the dorm when everyone else is havin to do pushups or some other **** cause they got in trouble. Plus you can take your time at chow, and when your down in the laundry room, if you have any female flights You can chill and talk to them. Which is more contact than the rest of them get...

good luck on the sale of your 370.

I just did 11 years in the AF and its the best service if you ask me.

Do you have any school? do you want to fly? the way to go in the air force is being a flyer. You can actually pick a flying job without a degree and be an aircrew member. I can tell you from personal experience that it will be the most rewarding choice and it will pay off tremendously in the long run.

Look in to a 1A4XX career field and go the sensor operator route. That's what I did and I got to fly in a really cool AC-130 gunship for a few years and then you can operate predators which equates to really good money on the outside.

Be smart about what you pick. Dont just do it because you want a change of life and then end up picking whatever they give you. make the most out of it and hold on to your Z if you want to. They will start paying you as soon as you go to Boot camp

They are phasing out the 1A4's, they are waiting for the last ones to retire and aren't training any new ones sadly...

Last thing I would say, is be ready for deployments... AF is goin bigtime. And they are switching from 4 months to 6 months. So family's have to be understanding...

:icon17: I joined back on Feb. 14, 1989....and 20 friggen years later I'm pretty sure I still remember it:

SIR, Airman (insert last name) reports as ordered!

Is that it? ;)

Only got to do a little over 4 years and had a seizure on active duty....that was all she wrote. I had it during the VSI/SSB Early out years and an E-4 were a dime a dozen. At least I have VA benefits!

Good luck with the sale of the Z and hope you get stationed someplace cool!
